I know the LOTR nerds will come at me, but why is this needed? Really? They did three movies that are about 10 hours long. Did another 8-9 hours on the Hobbit, which was a thin little book. Why do this again? It wasn't that long ago.

You melted over Isaiah Bradley, Commisioner Gordon, now this elf woman. You really dislike black people in your nerd culture.

Because we all understand the universe Tolkien was creating. Just because he doesn’t explicitly say that something didn’t happen doesn’t mean it makes sense to add it in.

What? There's a reason that %99 of books are better than the movie. It's very rare for a movie to be better than the book. I read a good bit and can only think of 3 movies based off a book where I actually like the movie better. This just shows you don't read a lot (im not knocking you for that), because you would know that even on the best adaptions, a lot of stuff has to be changed. And not all of the changes are based off personal agenda, that's ridiculous to think that

This applies even more so to Fantasy. Fantasy is really hard to properly adapt to TV. Especially this when you are trying to add in characters from the Silmarillion that are God/Angelic like characters.

No it wasn't. I wish they hadn't made it. I've said for years that this material is too hard to adapt to do it justice. I'm going to watch it and hope its good, but i'm definitely not getting my hopes up and wont have a problem to stop watching early on if they boot it up. But having a black dwarf certainly isn't a thing that is going to get me upset. If her plot line sucks, sure, but not because she is black.

As it's been mentioned multiple times in this thread:

Elves have been described by Tolkien has being fair and white skinned.
Men have been described by Tolkien as having both fair and dark skin based on where they're from.
Tolkien has never described the skin tone of Dwarves and so there is no reason to think they can't have more than one.

So this dwarf is an immigrant dwarf?

Or do they just pop out all different colors like a litter of cats? If so then why has every other depiction of a dwarf not included any other ones?

You didnt explain shite….

Tolkien pulled dwarves from Nordic and Germanic folklore. Neither was known for racial diversity in their folklore.

How about simple common sense over the fact that Tolkien based them on Norse myths and Germanic folklore. We’re a few seasons away if someone saying “Well Tolkien never explicitly said that there wasn’t a transvestite non-binary half elf sired by Celebrimbor that fought in the Battle of the Last Alliance, so what’s the big deal?” All the Woke are capable of is corrupting and destroying art. They are incapable of creating it.

Exactly. Tolkien didn't specify their race or if they have multiple skin tones.

That means there's I can't offer you an explanation for why there should be black Dwarves and you can't explain why there shouldn't be.

I raised SEVERAL questions about what the implications would be.

You skirted them .

Skin color means far more than how dark you are. It implies history and migration, and tribalism and tons of other shite.

You can’t just drop a black dwarf in there lol
