Subtle “I’m really smart” post.

Ha. Didn't even really think about that part of it. More or less...medical device is big here in Memphis. Nothing of the sort in La. I wish there was - there are many times I miss home tremendously. But all in all, a 5.5 hour drive isn't the end of the world.

Memphis is no peach - that's for sure. But they know how to cater to big business. Lots of money here in this area, especially east suburbs where I live.

Copied The Chimes and never looked back.

If they copied The Chimes then why isn't their food as good as The Chimes.. And I am not saying The Chimes has great food. It has pretty good food, with a good atmosphere.

Walk-ons has more of a sports theme with food that is okay. Im not hating on walkons at all. I went to middle school with Brandon, his aunt lives down the road from me.. His mom is as nice as can be. I wish I liked their food, but there is nothing on their menu that I think "you know who makes a better ___________? Walkons".

What works for the Chimes with 2-3 restaurants won't work for a restaurant group that franchises. It's not scalable.

Louisiana doesn’t change because it doesn’t want to change. The governor thinks he’s a dictator, the legislature, a majority of which is in the opposite political party, nods at the governor, the majority of the voters keep doing dumb things like re-electing the mayors of NO and BR. There is no push to make things business friendly because the people running the state don’t want other people at the money trough. Sports betting got approved last summer and didn’t finally open til AFTER football’s regular season ended, presumably because it took that long for everyone to get paid. Why would a normal business want to put up with that?

If you can, get out now. It’s never going to get better.

It's really hard to attract people to a place that is so naturally unattractive and has shite for amenities on top of that.

Houston has pretty much the same crappy landscape as S LA. It doesn't help but it turns out having a lot of high paying jobs can overcome this limitation

There are lots of issues with BR but that will always be the killer that inhibits any growth.
Any attempts to fix it are fought by teacher unions. . .or seen as gentrification.

Kip wanted to develop in North BR. Bring businesses and jobs to the people in that area. Broome and Gravy convinced the residents that getting better jobs was racist or some shite.

Council shelved it.

North BR continues to be a garbage dump

The food gets worse every year, just like Canes. The bigger they get, the less they give a F about quality. Atlanta is a shite hole btw

I moved back here recently after a being away for a few years. Needed a new place to live and figured it would be good to be near family again. Wanted to give it one more try so I could know either way.

I remember why I left. There’s nothing here for a young professional like me. The dating and job markets suck. There are good hunting and fishing opportunities but outside of that there isn’t much good outdoor recreation to do. If it wasn’t for family ties I would never come back here again.

When my lease expires I am out!

It does, but it has the amenities. The money came first, but it was natural, not forced. LA wants to force or at least induce it, and it's never going to happen because they can't create an economic alluring reason to invest there beyond some initial tax breaks. Other places can do those plus benefits that sustain.

People will continue to leave the state as long as the politics stay the same. You can’t have an unfriendly business environment when you are surrounded by business friendly states

Correct. Louisiana needs to relocate near New Jersey and Connecticut to compete. Unfortunately its population is woefully undereducated for the northeast, but its business friendliness and taxes would be best in region.

If you had the opportunity to move and get a better job and didn't, then you're an idiot.

Atlanta sucks but I will say Emory and Georgia Tech are both solid schools.
