All employees should walk out. Its not like they can't find other jobs.

Academy just showed them how little they respect their own employees.

Without the issues hood rats and junkies cause, America would be paradise.

These policies usually revolve around violence from the employees and pursuing. If a company chooses to fire someone for simply grabbing back the merchandise and subsequently taking a beating without retaliation then their policy is terrible and they can get fricked..

Maybe they were looking for a reason to fire her but on its face. frick academy until they address this situation

I agree their policy is terrible. But the manager knew the policy. Doesn’t this board of all places have share the value that if you work for someone, you can’t do what you want to do? Stupid policy or not, she has an employer and she didn’t follow what she was told to do.

I'll help! Go to this site to see any advertised ammo priced by the round. LINK wikirarms.com to many options than to support that type of bs.

Can you blame the legal system here when they aren't even involved?

What this boils down to is stores like these have a "policy" that says payment is optional. That smacks everyone with any kind of moral code right in the face. And honestly, if they refuse to change their policy, the only way to force the issue is to have everyone that walks in the store take advantage of it.

They got fired for not following policy, they should have let the thief go since that is pretty much policy at any box store.

You're an idiot.

I’m going to cancel my Academy credit card and let academy know that in the future when I need something, I’ll just shoplift it.

False. The legal system has everything to do with it, but not in the way most people understand. One single incident where someone gets hurt severely, could cost 2 or 3 years worth of theft, and that is just medical bills and labor cost without production. I've seen $200,000 being paid in medical bills for a single workplace incident. Losing your life or quality of life is not worth a piece of merchandise that is covered by theft insurance. Also, the rate of arrest for shoplifters, after-the-fact, is well over 50%, at least in my past experience. I'm all for chasing shoplifters, used to do that shite when I was young and allowed, but it's stupid and not worth it.

I agree with this and also I commit to no longer shopping academy. As others here have stated I’m sure they won’t miss it but I won’t support an organization that fires that person in this situation. I’ll pay more at the local mom and pop shops that carry similar items. Corps are free to do and say as they please. But just like free speech for individuals there are consequences.

Classic.

Maybe instead of theft insurance they should invest in injury insurance. Then they could change their policy and take out two birds with one stone?

Color me shocked. For the love of God, put these thieves in jail. Get over the covid excuse already and go back to putting criminals where they belong - in jails.

Send all shoplifters to Los Angeles or San Fran on one way tickets

Agreed. This Academy is like 2 minutes from my house and where I buy most of my clothes and outdoor gear. I'd have a hard time to completely stop going there, but damn this pisses me off. They need to reconsider their action here.

Me too but at least we know we can just walk in and steal shite without consequences.
