If you’ve ever driven the stretch of 190E that connects I-49S to I-10E is South Louisiana, you’ve experienced something similar.
The stretch from 190 towards 49 on Hwy 71 thru Lebeau and Bunkie is bad.
My daddy lives in Goudeau and I have known since I was little child to set your cruise for that long and slow 15 mile stretch to where we had to turn in big cane.

I think that stretch of highway 20 with Trinity, Hillsboro, and Courtland used to be bad with cops running radar. I don’t drive through there much anymore but one of those three places always had someone pulled over when drove it multiple times a week.

Do the cops in these towns write tickets to locals or do they try to keep it to people passing through? I couldn't imagine living in a little town and having to watch the speedometer every time I leave the house.
I know for sure locals get it too in Livonia, Krotz springs, Port barre and those stretches in st Landry to Bunkie.

It's sheer dumb luck I never got popped in the 6 years I drive back and forth from Baton Rouge to Shreveport on 190 and I-49.
I am not what you would call a slow driver.
LSP and Hurst, TX PD have both gotten some cash from me though

This is why I wish conservative libertarians would have gotten on board with “defund the police.” They’re a vestigial enemy of the people.

These speed traps are all in dying towns that frankly deserve to die.

Just dumb. “Fine double in construction zones.” Just get some cones, man!
I actually had a police juror tell me that that in his town cops kept cones in their cars to put out randomly. F them.

two years they went from having one cop (the current chief) and one marked car to an unknown number of jackboot thugs with 9 unmarked SUVs and a "riot control vehicle"
On the bright side, when they have to downsize there's plenty of jobs available for the ones that get laid off and they should be able to get top dollar for those used SUVs. LGB

Don’t blame the cops. Blame these punk arse mayors and town councils who all want to run their little fiefdoms as though they were governor or president.
Forest Hill comes to mind.

see i cant get behind a complete defund. I think there has to be a change in culture. I want police, like the beat cop, especially in large cities. I want them investigating violent criminals......
but i dont want to all the bullshite the cops pull. i dont want them funding whole towns with tickets, i dont want them having swat teams (except cities over 250k), i dont want them having tanks, i dont want no knock warrents, i dont want them being able to use civil assett forfieture etc
to make these things go away and stop making the most violent criminals the wealthiest we must
1) decriminalize drugs ( all drugs, if you want to discuss why, start a new thread)
2) outlaw no knock warrents
3) outlaw civil asset forfieture
4) rid the country of the patriot act
5) on a state level, local police are not allowed to write tickets for anything under 15 mph over the limit on state highways and interstates. and to write that ticket their must be video proof that it was that car you radared.
6) on a state level, limit small town police forces to a per captia bases...essentially any town under 10k needs to have a very limited police force.
7) we need to ramp up policing in places like nola. preferrablly this would come from a federal level
8) require way more training and better pay for officers so they understand what the job really is and you get a better group of people.
9) all interactions need to be on film
10) no taking cars home
as much as dspise the police i recognize they mainly deal with the scum of this country. its no excuse but their is a reason they are on edge and feel they are at war with the public at all times.
but the whole back the blue and thin blue line....that shite has to go, now.
