Sometimes you take the train to the job, sometimes the train takes the job to you.

It really pisses me off when people respond to shite like this by saying they "wish he could've gotten help" or posting Suicide Hotline numbers. We don't know if this man was mentally ill. I feel pretty strongly that he wasn't schizophrenic or demented, so any "mental illness" argument boils down to "oh, he was just really sad and someone needed to give him some advice or pills to help him cope."

No, no, no- there is a story here. This isn't a matter of someone having a personality disorder and failing to seek help because of stigma or whatever. There was some rational basis for what he did. Don't obscure that with the Suicide Hotline crap. Prozac and a pat on the back would never have addressed what made this man both end his life and send a giant "frick you" to the organization he led.

That's not what people who need a Prozac and a pat on the back do.

How much money was embezzled, and who recently found out?

This happened in Chicago about ten years ago, the transit CEO jumped in front of one of his own trains. Come to find out he had forged a few bonus checks and stolen some other money as well. He had a wife in the suburbs and three kept women in city apartments. The stolen money was to support all of them. Folks from the accounting department were closing in on him and he was desperate.

Wonder if you have a functioning brain… on second thought I know the answer. So never mind.

The fact that he choose this method to take his own life is no coincidence or convenience.

I am curious if MARTA has a policy or history of paying families of those killed on their lines. I also question if he didn't attempt to make his own death appear as a work related accident in an effort to provide additional funding to his family following his death.

Either way, he is still dead. Odd, selfish choice to involve others in the immediate act.

Something about the glasses and slightly creepy smile suggest the island might not have served up what he was into.
