No link yet. Just heard it on Houston Sportstalk790 and thought I’d break the story. I hope they can grab Josh McDaniel or Brian Flores.

Stupid decision. Team played hard for him. Hard to win when a rookie David Mills is your QB and you have no talent

You know a lot of people probably wondered what they were doing when they brought him a board initially but then it turned out to be not the worst move.

But now they fire him.

Okay...

Ever since they announced him as their HC, it sort of felt like the Texans were granting a Make-A-Wish to Culley for him to be a finally be a HC.

We all knew it wasn't serious and would last less than a year, but I still feel kinda bad for the dude.

Ownership change needed. They could have traded Watson before all that crap came out but got too greedy.

I agree that it was tough situation but he didn’t do himself ANY favors with his decisions and game management. Dude is not ever going to prove he can be a successful head coach in the nfl and I think that’s clear. He was and is woefully under qualified and it showed.

Why feel bad for him though? He got his wish. And his contract was only for two years and he will be paid his full contract. His dream is to be a high school head football coach so now he can go after his real dream with some financial security

They hired him to fire him. They couldn't get a good candidate and Easterby and the organization was catching shite at the time so they hired him to give them some momentary cover.

His game management was atrocious. His roster is shite and for that reason I’m a little surprised that they fired him this quick but he also is not some great head coach either. Texans can definitely do better at head coach than Culley…not sure why he got hired in the first place really.

He was not a good hire from the start, but I don't understand what they were expecting with the roster they gave him. I'm not how many of the top coaches in the league would have won more games than what he won.

He shouldn't have been hired last year, but if for some reason the organization thought he was their guy a year ago, I can't imagine what about this year changed their minds. He was in an impossible situation and those guys didn't seem to quit.

No idea why they've let him talk to the media all week. I think it was yesterday he said he wanted everyone to know the "comeback" in the second half against the Titans had nothing to do with him. He just gave a pep talk about not giving up and giving it their all. He definitely has no sense of awareness given all the dumb stuff he's said and admitted to the last year.

Chicken jumped the gun with that thread before black Monday and the NFL firings, some of which might impact college jobs.

I mostly agree with you on all that. I don’t know what the Texans expected out of him when they as an organization are so bad that they have hamstrung themselves in every way possible. He had several awful in game decisions that anyone that has played Madden knows how to manage but it’s not like those decisions are the reason this team wasn’t a playoff contender.

They better have a commitment from someone because otherwise the only people they’ll be able to hire are Jim Mora Jr and Marty Morningwig.

Guy shouldn’t have even taken the job

I know I know, lifelong WR coach isn’t going to pass on a head job but man, that was a disaster from the get go
