The Texans are such a hapless disaster of a franchise

Ever since they announced him as their HC, it sort of felt like the Texans were granting a Make-A-Wish to Culley for him to be a finally be a HC.
We all knew it wasn't serious and would last less than a year, but I still feel kinda bad for the dude
Um, yeah...so an NFL team hired a HC but wasn't really serious about who they hired. Sure can't find anything questionable in that statement...
"felt like the Texans were granting a Make-A-Wish to Culley for him to be a finally be a HC" You think kids with cancer is funny or a clever reference you fricking piece of shite?

Easterby
Is this guy still with the organization? I lived in Houston 2 years ago and, even then, people HATED Easterby.

Sure but it’s not because they are firing David Culley

The amount of hand wringing over this move is quite hilarious to me. It’s a direct result of how bad everyone thought the move was originally to hire him. Go look at any thread about it from that time, it’s all people laughing at the Texans, wondering who tf he is, saying this is why they are bad, etc. So that turned into people expecting the worst team of all time. So as a result he went above literally the lowest bar of expectation of all time and now we have to pretend like it’s outrageous that the Texans want to move in a different direction now that the job is more attractive with picks and cap space (and less Watson drama) than last cycle.

Not on it’s own, no. But it’s the natural conclusion to an extremely poorly run franchise and process. I’m not sure why any coach with other decent options would want the job even a year removed. Nothing about the rotten internal culture with them has been fixed.

The Easterby dynamic is so weird

McNair Jr needs to wake up

Stupid decision. Team played hard for him. Hard to win when a rookie David Mills is your QB and you have no talent

I think he was just a bridge to get them past the Deshaun Watson stuff. Now that it is clear that the team will move forward without Watson they will look for a longer term solution.

It’s pretty amazing Easterby is still there. I’ve heard from a few people who have dealt with Cal that he’s just not the most intelligent guy

I don't think they would have fired him if the Dolphins retained Brian Flores.

Watson wants to play for Flores, enough to stay in Houston?

Culley admitted Caserio told him to let NE score at the end of that game, and it "didn't compute" for Culley. Pretty damning admission.

Now that's what I call general managing.

Caserio was just managing...generally.

They're probably going after Flores. NFL should force them to get a new owner tho.

From tag-teaming co-eds to tag-teaming the NFL.

Yeah That’s the guy they are supposed to keep around because they were competitive on the redzone channel a few times this year

The one argument you can make to keep him is that you may be in another rebuilding year where a proven "caretaker" will do well enough. Keep the same staff and evaluate Mills at QB more.

However, if Watson were to come back and stay in Houston, you're ready to compete in the AFC South.

Not really. Roster is still very bad.
