Marginal players going early to nfl is not a good decision. SO SICK AND TIRED OF THE LSU culture here “can’t blame the player. “ And that attitude is often expressed as a good business decision for the kid. Unless he is a first rounder it is never a good business decision.
The leave early supporters are right. It Is a business. I am sure Bama explains this well to the kids. Invest in yourself as a player. If you make NFL, your first contract is your most important.
3.3 years. Bring in some guys that went early and it didn’t work. There are plenty of them.
Get your degree. Build character. And do these two things for yourself. Flott should stay he could make millions by doing so. Add ten pounds and move up three rounds.

Much of what you say is true, but Flott isn't a marginal player, and barring injury, he'll have a nice NFL career. If I was advising him I'd tell him to go.

I’d tell Flott to stay. He is a decent player. Can he cover good nfl receivers though. Perhaps in a year. He still needs some work.
The NFL is a can you help us today place. They will cut a 6th rounder and not blink an eye. They won’t do that if they take him in the third round.then they have investment they don’t want to lose
I want the kid to have his best chance to do well monetarily for himself and his family.

I say go play o when you get the chance. Only have a small window to play in the NFL. Play your 3-4 yrs and then go back and get your degree, or better yet, work toward your degree during the off season.

That doesn’t allow the young man to move up the board. That costs the player money.
Not sure how this is a good decision. His skills are not declining at 25. The player at that point just hasn’t developed his skills enough or doesn’t have them.

Flott had a nice year. I’d definitely like to see him play one more year here and boost his stock.
However, all his coaches that recruited him and that he built a relationship with have left. I’d selfishly rather him go to the nfl than transfer to another SEC school.
At the end of the day, many life decisions are made based on the relationships you have with your superiors and peers. These relationships dictate when, where, and if people move on many times.

Agree to disagree. If you’re a marginal player, get your degree, then go to the NFL. Shore up your fall back options and possible network even more.
But I’m not sure Flott doesn’t develop into a consistent, long tenured player IF his body can hold up

Every situation is different and sometimes I can’t fault players for leaving for the possibility of making money off their talent when they’ve only got a small window to do so. LSU needs to do a better job of locking in players that aren’t getting the best of NFL evals. Maybe that comes with NIL money. As for getting a degree, they can always come back and finish if they choose to do so. I wish the program put more of an emphasis on getting players to take business classes, but you can’t force them to do so.

NFL don’t have time for shite or having to bring players to the next level. How you arrive is how you’re going to be for 95% of these guys. You need to hit the NFL at your plateau, not as a work-in-progress.
Flott’s jumping off point right isn’t great NFL-wise, but another year and it likely would be. Instead he’s likely going to be playing catch up from Day 1, fart around for a few years and get cut.

The NFL drafts on potential and projections all the time. The Saints draft two guys a year who are works in progress. Staying for an extra year does not automatically mean your stock improves he could have hit his ceiling.

So if you're not really going to be a 2nd contract guy anyway, and you have a chance to make 600k for 3.3 years, that's $1.98m. fairly conservative estimate for someone on an active roster.
Say you make 200 for 2 more years on practice squads.
I'd say you have the time and money to complete a degree and a great start to pursue a career. You also have enough money to go after the jobs you WANT and not take any (unnecessary)shite on the way up.
