Yep, you can go to 6 but no more. You give the power 5 their conference champ add 1 at large or wildcard team that can come from anywhere and you give #1 and #2 a bye. This way every team has a chance to make it and those bye's will give us better 1st round games instead of these unwatchable blowouts we see 90% of the time.

No it would not, here is why. Players would say well Im damn talented, much better so I can just sit out and prepare for the draft. If you have not noticed players do that at every school, they are not interested what their school did for them. People wanted more bowl games for what reason no idea. Fans don't travel and multiple players sit out and go prepare for the draft

We already have interesting postseason matchups of good teams that won't win national titles...in the bowls. Watch the Sugar Bowl, great matchup this year. I guarantee it will be more interesting than the two terrible semi finals we just saw.
In a perfect world, I agree.

Problem is, the players don't. When was the last time you saw a good non-playoff team play with their full roster in a bowl? It's only going to get worse, all the potential NFL picks will sit out.

If I had a choice, we'd do bowls and the BCS game. Or even just bowls, and have a title voted on... that WAS kinda fun. But the genie is out of the bottle now, and the bowls are dead.

Maybe not a 2 vs 15 but you never know..this year that would have been Michigan vs Iowa. That’s still a watchable game.

Michigan vs Iowa was 42-3 this year

Top four is enough but, as in everything else? afraid that visions of more money will fuel more “playoffs” that will spiral out of control.

Yesterday proved there aren’t even 4 teams worthy of playing in the playoffs. Why should we expand?

We are compelled to add Iowa,Ole Miss, Notre Dame?!?!?

all playoffs in every sport have teams that ultimately don't belong, but that's not a good reason to exclude them. It all varies from year-to-year.

But I don't want to dilute the playoffs too much, so just expand to 8. Auto bids for P5 conference champs plus 3 at-large.

That makes the conference championship games hugely important and the at-large bids allow a team that is very good, but slipped up during the season, to have a shot.

I agree with you on expanding to 8 teams but don't like the idea of automatically giving a spot to each P5 Conference Champ. There really is only one Power Conference for football....the SEC.

In the sense of who the best 8 teams really are, you would have to have at a minimum 3 SEC teams included in the PLay-offs and many years 4 or 5. That wouldn't happen when giving the spots automatically to the lesser Conference champions.

I think when you don’t have a month to prepare for the opponent you’ll see some of these games become closer with an expansion. Georgia with only a week to prepare for Michigan may have played out completely different.

I keep seeing this but more teams with a chance to get in makes more games have meaning. A loss early in the season doesn’t mean you are out of it any more.

I mean maybe 6 teams, which is unnecessary, but 10-12 teams is just dumb and will minimize the regular season. I'm tired of watching blowout playoff games.

You just haven’t figured it out yet.

The regular season is truly gone for 90% of the teams. Players will opt out, get “hurt”, or enter transfer portal when the team is out of it.

Going to 16 makes probably 32 -50 team’s seasons meaningful until game 9 -10.

That’s enough to maintain the product. Without it, the sport will actually die.

So you actually think having bowls which are so meaningless that players are refusing to play in any of them except playoff games is good for College Football?
Remind me again how many players opted out before we had playoffs?

You understand that FBS is the only level of football without a legitimate playoff?
You understand that there was a time when college football was king. Do you have any idea why? Do you have any idea why it isn't anymore?

What is hurting College Football are the Transfer Portal and NIL.
What is hurting college football is the same that's hurting this country - greedy motherfrickers looking to swoop in and take over and milk every dime out of it before leaving it shriveled garbage.

I hope they do because who cares at this point. Doesn't change anything besides making the other NY6 bowls more attractive
