Why don't more parents warn their sons about the horrors and risks of marriage?

Why do so many parents stand quietly by and let their sons sign their lives away without a discussion of all of the risks?

Why don't they warn their sons of how they can lose half of their estate in the blink of an eye.
Warn about how the courts are stacked against men and if women want custody they will get it (unless they are druggies etc).
If you live in Cali and are married 10 years you are subject to pay alimony for life.

Parents warn their kids about the dangers of drugs, smoking, drinking, risky stock investments, too much debt etc.

Yet they stand by and clap as their sons make the riskiest financial decision of their lives, signing that marriage contract.

It's almost as if it is taboo to stray from the Hollywood romcom narrative.

A lot of guys end up in a nightmare and feel like "why didn't anyone warn me? Dad, Uncle, somebody"

They probably want grandkids

That said, if I had a baw, I'd warn him

Not everyone has a total shite marriage that ends in financial ruin and domestic violence charges?

Marriage is supposed to be a religious sacrament before God. Anything else isn’t marriage.

Parents can warn all they want. But most people don’t think it will happen to them, so they’re less likely to listen.

Tell them to marry someone with similar earning potential. Then they aren’t losing half of “their” estate if it ends.

I’m teaching my son to be choose wisely. That’s the only thing to do. Planning for failure means you aren’t really committing to marriage.

Because maybe they recognize the good in a nuclear family vs what we are seeing today?

I guess because some of our parents have happy, loving marriages.

I agree pretty much with this post but if you’re old enough to marry you should know better.

Good post. At my Grandmas funeral, my uncle that I hadn’t seen in years told me “don’t ever let anyone try to tell you to get married”. That stuck with me for a long time. Then I got married. Then I got divorced
