I don’t disagree with this, especially if it’s a Tiger stadium/superdome series. Sadly, it will NEVER be the rivalry or tradition it used to be up until the mid ‘90’s tho. The dome used to be packed with Tulane fans vs LSU, particularly thru the ‘80’s. The fan base is much different now having no real sense of what LSU/Tulane used to be or the sheer hatred these teams had for each other. Frankly, idk if a large majority of our fan base understands it. LSU/Tulane was a real thing back in the day.

Yes. Wanting to play a bunch of G5 or FCS schools is dumb. It makes home game tickets worth nothing minus a couple games. Season tickets would actually be worth something if everyone on the schedule was an SEC or Big Ten school

Hence the word "generally". The only ranked SWAC schools were FAMU, who got curbstomped by the only good team they played, and Jackson State, because of Deion. SWAC and MEAC teams are a step below the rest of the FCS. It is why they created the Celebration Bowl.

Re playing tulane: it's funny that this always comes up from a few LSU fans. tulane has NEVER sold its allotment of tickets for games in TS, so obviously its fan base could care less. As for tradition? What tradition? It does not exist anymore. "Money": Yea, in today's athletic business world, LSU is going to throw away a million dollar home game to get a part of a miniscule gate of mabe 45K. And as every long time Tiger fan knows, tulane fans would be scalping their tickets to LSU fans, something they always do. Screw tulane.

Well LSU played UCLA to start this season and lost. Playing Southern isn’t the end of the world or do some of y’all have a problem playing against an HBCU.

My biggest problems with this are 1. We had a basketball player killed on an event Southern put on due to their lack of security. We shouldn’t be playing them in any sport after that.

Exactly. Northwestern St was at the bottom of the Southland, Alcorn was a middle of the pack SWAC team. They lost by 3 points on the road.

I'll bet Tiger Stadium will be full or nearly full for the Southern game just to watch the band. I saw the video of Prairie View at A&M and the Aggies were very excited and cheered the Prairie View band.
I usually give my tickets away for non-conference non-power 5 games, but I'll be in Tiger Stadium to watch the Southern game and band.

Did anybody see the response Southern band got when they played Georgia? It’s a crosstown game that would generate all kinds of revenue for Baton Rouge as a whole. So what’s the real issue with the game. No, Southern ain’t the best team in America but the buzz around that game will incredible for the state and the city.

Yes... the same as A&M for Prairie View. I have Aggie friends and relatives who went to the game just to see the band and got up and left when the Aggie band took the field after PV.
People won't leave after our band because for some crazy reason (Alleva), our band marches first. That's not a knock on our band... I like watching them very much.
I would stay for the whole game anyway since I travel from Sugar Land, but it's halftime that I'm going to see. I know both bands will put on good shows and maybe for all of the "Neck" lovers, the Southern band will play it... lol

Nope they have never played and IMO shouldn't be on the schedule. Power 5 teams shouldn't be able to schedule FCS schools and even more so HBCU schools. Simply because of the difference in the talent of the teams. The only thing gained from it is the FCS and HBCU schools get a big paycheck. The power 5 school gains nothing. The reason I separated FCS and HBCU is that HBCU's do not want to take part in the playoffs and it has developed over the last 20-30 years that HBCU's are a step below competition wise next to FCS schools.
