Updated Highlights so far from the press conference:

Magazine Street has been removed from Uptown parade route

Many Uptown parade routes will start at Napoleon and Prytania

Endymion will roll in Mid-City with some modifications

Zulu will roll on original route with some modifications (same changes at 2020)

Rex will start at Napoleon and Carondelet and then roll on original route.

The route changes are temporary for this year, per NOPD superintendent Shaun Ferguson.

Endymion will not do a traditional toast at Gallier Hall. A new toasting spot will be determined later.

All parades will roll on their traditional day.

Parades that traditionally started on the lakeside of St. Charles Avenue now will start at Carondelet and Napoleon.

Parades that traditionally started on riverside of St. Charles Avenue will now start at Napoleon and Prytania.

The changes were made with input with the krewes.

Haven’t seen tits along the route in years. Since everyone has a camera in their pocket, seeing tits has become like looking for big foot...

I really don't understand why they chose Prytania and not Magazine.

For sure she'll be making the Magazine St removal permanent. She said Zulu gets to keep their same route with the exception of where it changed previously for the Hard Rock collapse because "it worked well for us in the past so we're going to stick with it". Next year she'll same the same of removing Magazine

Thoth took the brunt of the changes. No passing in front of Children’s Hospital, Lighthouse of the Blind, Hainkel Center, Poor Clare Nuns, etc. Cuts to the core of what Thoth is about. Happy Mardi Gras sick and invalids, signed Teedy!

Agree with the others that this will not be temporary.

So Zulu didn’t get any of their route chopped off?

What about Thoth and the other parades that run magazine?

That's cut out.
Coming down Magazine was one of the most fun parts about Thoth. Loved throwing to the folks sitting on porches or hanging out windows. Plus the crowds were less dense than the rest of the route so it was easier to spot friends/family.

Even back to Mitch the city had been pushing to dump magazine for everyone other than Thoth. I think magazine is gone for everyone other than Thoth, everyone else will start at Napoleon/magainze and Tchoup.

How is crowding more people on to St. Charles Avenue more safe than spreading out the route?

Seems like the better option would have been to outsource some policing for the Magazine portions of the parade route than to shut it off completely.

Really sucks for Thoth as they were riding magazine before anyone. Really hope these are one year changes but I’m not optimistic.

Sounds like Endymion will not hit St. Charles at least from Poydras to Lee Circle and possibly not St. Charles at all with stands going up on Loyola.

For the Magazine stretch I only feel bad for Thoth, the rest of the parades using Magazine is a relatively recent change primarily made to give the krewes a longer route and run time.

I ride in carrolton, but same here. When I was a kid we would go to magazine to catch Thoth because my parents didn’t want to fight st Charles.

A bunch of families are gonna be stuck this year without that magazine run.

Too bad for all those kids in the childrens hospital having their Mardi Gras show stolen.

Can they ask people to try not to get run over by floats this year?

I agree. They cut Gallier Hall out of the Route and are staging stands on Loyola.

My guess is we’ll go Down Canal to Loyola and then straight to the Dome. That’s the end of the Route
