The coin toss

I thought for sure Chiguhr was going to waste that poor old man. The old man's acting in this scene is lost in all of this, great performance.

The opening interrogation scene in Inglorious Basterds is up there. As is the basement bar scene.

The bank robbery scene in Heat.

The re-entry scene in Apollo 13 has me on the edge of my seat even now after watching it about 50 times.

And the entire D-Day beach sequence in Saving Private Ryan.

The last 10 minutes of Aliens is one of the most tense best things ever put on film. Its not one scene but its relentless.

Starting with Ripley's Elevator ride down to the depths of hell.

And it only gets more tense.

The scene in “Training Day” whenever Denzel leaves Ethan Hawke with the Mexicans is pretty tense.

I felt like tension was conveyed pretty well throughout most of “Crawl.”

Good call.

I meant to type SPR in my initial post, so I went back and added that one (though I see it's been mentioned as well).

Some others that jumped into my mind:

The Full Metal Jacket suicide scene. shite, the sniper scene too.

And it may seem silly now, but I saw The Blair Witch Project in theaters the day before I found out it was "fake." And the end of the movie with her running all around the house and then finding Mike in the basement standing in the corner was tense and creepy as frick. That shite messed me up and stuck with me for a couple of days. It was REALLY well done.

Christoph Waltz was the absolute perfect casting choice in that movie. He’s a phenomenal actor imo
