Got a solid wood bedroom set in 2008 (no veneer).. Queen bed frame.. High boy.. chest of drawers w/mirror and two bedside night stands.. I think it was a great deal for like $2000. I can't imagine what it would cost now. I found out that the trees are cut here and shipped to China and made into the furniture.
But right after Katrina I bought some stuff from Ashley.. That was complete junk.. sent most of it back.. The sofa .. one of the cushions collapsed.. I was able to unload that crap on someone at a decent price..

Yeah. We waste so much by the way we build things. I've bought and thrown away so much Ikea shite.

Is there a company that builds custom furniture?

Got one 2 years ago and it took forever for it to get let go from the port, then shipping is done as they can fill up a truck so it was tracked to like 8 different stops and delays, then when it showed up, it had quite a few scuffs and dents in it and on the legs.

Just said screw it and declined it and got refunded.

I would just take the store display stuff and have it cleaned long before i ever ordered furniture again

Also pissed that it’s going to be 3 more months before we even get it.
Three months is great! The couch I ordered on August 3 was estimated to arrive in Dec. Then January. Then February. Now, March 22.

I have 2 leather couches from Wayfair that were around the same price. They're still holding up well 2 years in.

Go to a used furniture store and see what's there. The older, the better built.
Learn how to reupholster furniture. There are good heavy duty sewing machines out there that can handle leather.
Alternative: find a car refinisher who does car upholstery.

Furniture didn't used to be made of pine and poplar.

That’s on the cheap side for a sofa.

+1 If you want quality, you're going to pay more. I've been a big fan of Room & Board over the years to replace my older cheap furniture.

My new wife and I have been filling out the house with new furniture. We are mostly sticking to Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn, Arhaus. Their items seem to be a better quality

I bought a $350 dollar couch and it lasted me about three and a half years. Then I bought a slight used couch from my friends that moved to Ireland for none other than $350. It was only 2 months old. It's legit awesome I've had it a year.
