My question, were the players actually not as conditioned as leading coaches would expect? BK thought so. We have watched Bama push our shite in on the line for a decade so I am excited for a fresh start

They were pretty out of shape. A lot of it has to do with self discipline, though. He can’t eat for them and monitor them in their down time.

Our players seemed to lack initiative in the recent years.

We got our shite pushed in by “lesser” programs all year.

There are a list of reasons why BK possibly let him go.

It doesn't automatically default to that. No need to hide behind BK's legitimacy for your own opinions.

And to add, the S&C coach can have the best programs in the world set up, but if the head coach and others don't hold players accountable, none of it matters.

You cant make people want it.

Sure some did, but it was obvious who didnt want it.

For example, even when damone Clark was chasing people 60 yards down the field after being 6 yards on the other side of the line of scrimmage, you know who wasnt there to make the tackle? Some all americans or whatever you want to call them.

Moffitt should have been fired on the spot after the UCLA game

LSU players were soft this year but I don’t think it was Tommy’s fault. It had more to do with the ME attitude at the beginning of the season

Spot on. If the position coaches aren't making sure they volunteer for the "voluntary" workouts, including the S&C regimen, the those coaches aren't doing their job.

This along with declining recruiting on the lines for a number of years.

With how fast Moffitt was let go, you have to assume Scott Woodward felt a change was needed also.

Moffitt had a great career. Careers come to an end. Scott W and Kelly decided to go in a different direction.

Programs depend a lot on the S&C staff as they spend the most time with the players. They can really help drive the culture of accountability. Most programs have gone younger on the S&C side, with S&C person leading the workouts and being the cheif pump em up guy on the field.

I have no problem with the admin deciding to go in a different way with the S&C program, but I also acknowledge Moffitt was one of the best for a long time.

Some people can’t separate poor (& young) talent vs strength & conditioning.

Easy crutch, I get it,

Every so often, the message needs to be changed. Letting Moffitt go may not have had much to do with the results, as I don't believe that he is fully to blame.

So far, he has been the only one let go, so I don't really know what that says.

Perspective:
How many outgoing coaches have you heard get this much love? Not many (if any). It tells you he’s was respected & it wasn’t because he gave them cookies. It’s good sometimes to bring in a new way & voice. Brian Kelly is that new way & he’s done this job before & needs the ability to make the program his own. I would guess he wasn’t alone with this decision. We should all be respectful of everything Moffitt has done for LSU & hope the next one is as beloved & for delivering the same results.

My guess is Brian was told it was time for a change and the change in head coaches was an easy excuse.

The buck stops here. Doesn’t matter that players were not motivated. It’s Moffits job to turn players into dominating physical specimens. He needs to be resourceful or ruthless or whatever it takes to get job done. He didn’t and he is gone. End of story.
