It begins with recruiting the right players.

Why is everyone so hung up on Moffitt?

LSU players were soft this year but I don’t think it was Tommy’s fault. It had more to do with the ME attitude at the beginning of the season

Leadership comes from the top. For a few games the team reflected Ed O's IDGAF attitude. Do not put that on Moffitt.

Can’t give Moffit credit for the great success at LSU in his 21 years here, but none of the blame for the 11-11 record the last two seasons.

I wasn't putting it on Moffitt. Leadership starts at the top. That was my entire point. You missed it.

Right. Now do Kentucky and Ole Miss. The exception does not prove the rule.

The last thing Kelly needs is players and former players being loyal to Moffitt
That gets in the way in creating the change you need for this program
There is a big chunk of time where the S&C coach is the only one that is allowed to have that day to day interaction especially in the off season
Kelly needs someone in that position he can trust

The guy was living a dream for 20 years and his time was up. Spare me the sentimentality.

He was a well paid S&C coach
He will do fine
He will have options whatever he decides to do

I do not think that the coaches held many of the players accountable for what they did not do in the weight room; if the chiefs do not care, there is little that a subordinate can do.

Moffitt is a great S&C coach. And I'd be okay if he were still around.

However ... understand that the S&C program is the foundation of the entire football program. The S&C staff is the most connected to the players throughout the offseason and plays a huge role in general accountability (showing up on time and prepared, etc.). Based on this, I think it's fine that Brian Kelly wants to establish a new foundation for his philosophy and how he wants his team to run.

It's not that Moffitt is bad. It's that he simply is the foundation for old regimes that we are breaking from now. It's a new day for LSU football. Starting with the most foundational pieces of strength & conditioning and nutrition, we are building an entirely refocused program. It's time.
