Why are some people making Simone Biles a political story?

I mean, she's just a kid having some issues.

She didn't disrespect the flag or her country.

Some people are just annoyed that our elite star sucked it up

Some people hold a racial grudge for whatever reason. I don't think there are many of these, but when grown men are calling a gymnast obscene names and going on little tirades, there's clearly more at play

Others are annoyed that the media will glorify her for quitting

It’s more on the media. If Biles wanted to drop out, that’s her decision, but don’t tell all of us she’s a hero for doing so.
She is neither a villain nor a hero.

Use Football.

Star white QB quits before national championship game.

Think CNN would call him brave.

Fine. She quit. Whatever.

She shouldn’t be labeled brave under any circumstances.

Her skin tone has provided media privilege for no other reason

It’s pathetic.

Isn't quitting your country's team when they need you the most kinda disrespectful?

I mean she let the Russians win.

She is going to be the poster girl for government funded mental health care.

She is going to be on every day time talk show and every news show pushing this agenda.

Exactly. People melt down and choke. It happens. She was right to step aside if she was going to screw it up for the team. But, she shouldn't be made a hero for it.

My sister just sent me some video from Michael Rapaport about how it was all about race.

I’m a big SB fan, but I think it’s a delicious little case study in the convenient double standards of radical feminism.

Imagine if MJ had quit in the middle of the 4th quarter of the gold medal game because he wasn’t mentally tough enough. And the US lost.

No one would be calling him an inspiration.

Here’s what I have to contribute to this.

I get that something recent might have happened mentally/emotionally, and she just can’t go. Totally respect that.

But…. I hope it’s something recent that happened, and not something that’s been weighing on her for a while, otherwise she shouldn’t have made the commitment to be on the team, and she should have given the spot to someone who could compete.

The official narrative was that is was going be the Olympics of Black Girl Magic.

But Naomi Osaka got her arse handed to her by a Czech woman nobody ever heard of and Biles screwed up vault and then quit.

Of course, it doesn't look good when it's the non-diverse white chicks from Eastern Europe doing the winning.

She held herself out as a spokesperson on political issues. You know, the whole annoying reaping and sowing thing.

Heh...I'm getting some suspicious thoughts that her withdrawal was orchestrated. They are talking about this competitor or that one retiring months ago due to mental health. Now, we have these Michael Phelps ads for mental health prescription meds, those were NOT made yesterday, they have been made a month or more before yesterday's quitter.

It's not a political story.

It's more a story about the difference in mindset between different generations.

When I was a kid if you weren't hopelessly injured you competed.

You don't quit when the going gets tough. You don't quit because you get nervous. Champions face these things every day. Because they have a chance to win.

Losers have no stress because they aren't going to win.

Anyways I think many find it interesting that the snowflake generation quit.

And then when people started calling h her brave, well you have old school people who think that is moronic and liberals who ask have mental issues saying she is brave.

The media has been glorifying a lot of athletes for quitting recently. See how they reacted to all of the "opt outs" in college football. It is annoying and sends a TERRIBLE message.
