Honest and sincere question: are you interested in understanding the other side and alternative perspectives or do you think you already understand and thus are interested only in sharing your own thoughts? Are you open to possibility that you don’t understand everything about BLM and systemic racism?

Sure. I’d like to have some studies presented to me that show what this is.

I am open to hearing in detail the egregious system and possible solutions to fix said system. However, you must come in good faith and ready to communicate.

I'm open to a discussion. But will it be a discussion or do I need to just "shut the frick up" and be blacksplained to?

Has that been coined already? Is blacksplained a thing?

The problem is that one side dictating reality, in contradiction to facts, means you can’t have a conversation on the subject.

“The sky is black!” “Looks blue to me.” “RACIST!”

You lose any credibility in the discussion with the mention of BLM... They do not understand what they are talking about either...

of course i understand the concept

quote:

are you interested in understanding the other side and alternative perspectives

what does this mean, specifically?

there are a lot of parts of this argument that i don't really put much value into, especially when talking about meta/macro societal policies and philosophies. for example: shared (subjective) experiences

quote:

Are you open to possibility that you don’t understand everything about BLM and systemic racism?

well i understand the concepts but nobody, even those promoting the idea, "completely" understand the concepts b/c they shift the goalposts and change what language means in order to keep having to have conversations. also, they aren't very good at articulating clear goals or policies and use grandiose, vague language like "equity"

In 2020 it's just "hey whitey is keeping me from the $100K job I'm not qualified for"

Frankly. No

the other side shows absolutely zero interest in actually having a conversation. they just want to hear their thoughts coming out of my head. So I don't give a crap what they think
