I was pulling a customer's vehicle around to the back and the radio was on a talk show. This is the topic they were discussing. I decided to look it up while eating my lunch.

Washington Post Article
quote:

Black boys make up 18 percent of the male preschool enrollment, but 41 percent of male preschool suspensions, and Black girls make up 19 percent of female preschool enrollment, but account for an astounding 53 percent of female suspensions.

Teacher training on this issue must also be more targeted. Today, too many professional development opportunities for teachers aimed at improving positive discipline strategies focus exclusively on classroom management, managing challenging behavior and promoting social-emotional development. They ignore the key fact, supported by a wealth of research, that our implicit biases affect the ways that we perceive behavior.
quote:

Taking a colorblind approach to racism has never worked to address inequity; it has only ever increased it. This is no different. Talking about racial equity is not enough. It must be reflected in policy, in practice and in budgets. Even in our bitterly divided nation, surely we can agree that children fresh out of diapers shouldn’t be kicked out of school, especially because of the color of their skin.

I would also like to mention that my Caucaxican grandson got expelled from his daycare last week.

If they would stop misbehaving disproportionately, then they would stop being disciplined disproportionally.

Quickly starting to rival "truth to power" as my most despised phrase.

Maybe they should flatten the curve of racism then we won't have to mask it for so long

Along with number of enrollment, per cent of suspensions, the number of single parent households need to be lined up together. ??It is not a teacher problem. Its a lack of parental guidance

There it is

Not a single one is kicked out due to the color of their skin. Pre-school kids can be assholes to each other and adults too. If your kid keeps biting, fighting, or generally acting terribly I want them kicked out, regardless of what they look like.

Hell I could’ve told you that. My kid was at Oak Grove in Prairieville. Kept talking about how some boy named Something obvious kept getting in trouble for never listening. Kid would curse at the teacher including multiple f-bombs and they kept putting up with the kid. One parent cursed out and threatened the teacher because they made her kid do math. Also black.
