Remove Medical Collections From Credit Report

Anyone have any luck with this? Bill was for $120. I was in the process of moving when all this happened and apparently missed the bill. I thought it would be covered under insurance. Ive heard something about HIPPA being able to be used of something?

Why not just pay the bill now if you owe it?

Pay it. Then in a few months, dispute it. Since it's been paid, the company won't take time to do all the work to prove it's legit so it'll get removed.

I can promise you that they sent you more than 1 bill before it was sent to collections.

Medical collections don't hurt your credit score but if you are doing something like buying a home they may make you take care of it

This is a collections from 3 years ago. I paid the collections off when I got the notice back then. Reading into it I see that might not have been the best thing to do. Just seeing if there’s anything to do to get it removed now.

So from what I understand HIPPA prevents the actual medical bill from being on your credit. But when the debt is turned over to a collection agency, it is fair game. Nice work around.

MrsPop works in medical collections. It should not be on your credit report.

It’s 3 years old. Just ride it out and it’ll drop off.

Write a letter to the bureaus stating your case and what happened. State that it has since been paid and it was a mistake. In this case, when people actually take the time to address minor situations like this, they will usually remove it from your credit report.

You are part of the reason that doctors are so underpaid
Just pay what you owe like a civilized human being

Pay what you owe.
Had to go through this with my wife a year ago. She was in a wreck in college and the lady whose fault it was never paid so they stuck the bill on my wife. Called the collections company, just went ahead and paid it (like $150), and it was off her credit like 3 days later.

You sure?

Recent changes to credit reporting should have kept that off your credit report. I didn’t think they put medical collections on there anymore.

Not necessarily true.

In Louisiana (and many other states) med bills have a 10 year Statute of Limitations, credit reports have 7 year though.
If you're trying to get credit approval for a home loan it'll need proof of payment (letter from the reporting entity) or removal. An actual written dispute of the debt will take minimum 30 days from credit reporting agencies (plural as all 3 will handle separately) receipt of dispute.
For other loans (car, cards, etc.) if $120 collection from 3 years ago is a deal breaker they don't want the business anyway and you're better off going elsewhere where you'll be valued. As common sense dictates $120 ain't throwing anyone into bankruptcy, so a lender lacking common sense...

Have you paid the bill now? Most times if talk to the collection agency and pay the bill and ask them remove it from your report they will

I'm a lender. My company completely ignores medical collections, Verizon, & Direct TV collections. Don't see too many Verizon & Direct ones any more though.
