Daylight savings - Sunshine Protection Act

The Sunshine Protection Act would permanently extend daylight saving time from just eight months to the entire year, meaning the time would no longer change twice per year. In 2022, the Senate passed the bill by unanimous consent. The measure still needs to be passed by the U.S. House of Representatives and signed into law by President Joe Biden.

Personally, I don't like daylight savings time. I like normal time.

I’m in favor, as are most Americans.
But nah, how dare the senate pass things that the voters want

What do sunrises look like depicted this way?
Nothing like the sun not rising until 8am.

How are we supposed to know when to change the batteries in our smoke detectors?

Agreed. Prefer standard time over day light savings.
I prefer to hang outside during the twilight hours instead of the sun beating on me

Well, Republicans have majority control of the House so they co6ld get it done if they wanted. Guess since the Senate is Dem majority they won't out of spite. That's the way the shitshow usually plays out for both sides.

The longer the sun stays up in the evening the better. Screw 5pm sunsets.

This is stupid if ppl don't like the change just leave it at standard time. Permanent daylight savings time has been tried before in the early 70's and it was a disaster, people hated it.

They should push it 2 hours ahead so it never gets dark before 8pm. All this time in the dark is depressing. Nobody cares if your kids have to wait for the bus in the dark for two hours. Be a real dad and drive them to school

I did see some poor kids waiting for a bus this morning at 5:40 going to my deer stand. That seems pretty shitty to me.

Leave it alone. Perfect the way it is.

In December it wouldn't rise until 9:30 in the state of Michigan

I prefer DST but really don't care as long as they just pick one.

I say make a 30 minute adjustment and call it quits. I think it’s a good compromise.
