Remember years ago everyone was protesting for "living wages" and $15 an hour federal minimum wage? Have you all figured out yet that when wages go up the price of everything goes up too so you're not in any better position?

Just make it $1000 per hour and we can all be rich.

Why settle just for a living wage when it can be a living well wage?

And they won't. I hate to sound snotty, snobbish, intellectually egotistical, or elitist, but as George Carlin once reminded us...50% of the voting population is dumber than dirt (para.)

Wages haven’t gone up and the prices of everything continues to rise.

Wage increases are a factor that drives inflation

But to pretend that the cost of everything is directly proportional to the minimum wage is asinine

He said: "Think how dumb the average person is. And then realize that 50 percent of the people are dumber than them."

You know what's asinine...universal covid benefits that effectively set a minimum wage at $20-$25 hr for people sitting on their asses at home creating zero incentive for those same people to look for work at anywhere near previous prevailing wages and thinking that would not have any impact on inflation.

I'm not sure you understand why many poor people are actually poor.

Most of the folks complaining have made a lot of bad decisions that keep them from elevating themselves. I could still cover my bills if I were making $12 an hour. I never got anybody pregnant out of wedlock and didn't drown myself in debt. It's not that hard to do if you take responsibility and don't expect anybody to bail you out of bad decisions.

ETA: Most, not everybody. I understand that it's a lot more difficult if you were raised in a crack shack and went to shite schools. I believe economic privilege is a real thing.

Most of them barely have enough education to flip burgers. You expect them to understand basic economics?

I forgot, some of these idiots actually expect CEO’s to take massive pay cuts so they can pay their employees more.

I'm fully aware...that's not what I'm talking about. I'm saying it's basic economics that if everyone starts getting paid a higher wage...then it should be no shock everything will cost more.

I just posted about this in the other thread. Someone was complaining about Taco Bell prices, but remember how they were offering signing bonuses? Nobody wanted to work, and they were commanding big money to do so. Insanity.

That's coming home to roost.

That might be true, but who the fux wages have gone up? Everything else has.

Govt spending/"monetary easing"/high oil prices/raised interest rates.

Is this the part where we only blame Biden even though Trump was also complicit?

Most people should know this. We just went through a shitload of money printing and look at inflation. You'd think it'd be easier to understand but not everyone has a good education.

Obviously not or they would not still be calling for it.

went to school with a bunch of them. my wife went to private school and doesnt understand why i dont have empathy.

i try and explain to her...our whole life, even as far back as 1st grade, teachers were telling those people to pay attention and when they wouldnt and would laugh about good grades...the teachers would reply "thats ok, the world needs ditch diggers and garbage men too"

yet im supposed to feel sorry for them because after 2-3 stints in jail they are now garbage men and ditch diggers? frick that.

these are the same people that would laugh when you couldnt go to senior skip day as a freshmen because you had test. same people that thought it was cool to drop out of school as a senior or after they finished football their senior year. Same ones that asked to cheat off of people and never did their homework

i mean where the frick did they think they would end up? as ceo of GM

Hard to explain to people who have never been around it, why you dont feel sorry for them. Their whole like has been one bad decision after another. not my fault, frick em.
