Why has mental health declined so much over the years?

I just want to say first, as someone who struggles with mental health, that I know first hand what it is like to daily battle against this.
My question for y’all today is why do you think mental health in our society has declined so much over the years? For example, think back to our grandparents era, say the 1940’s. Obviously antidepressants didn’t exist back then. I know the field of psychology was around, but did people during that time have therapy options like we do today?
I get that there has always been depressed people throughout history. I get that anxiety has always been around. Do you feel like mental health struggles are just a lot more amplified today because it is so much out in the open?
What are your thoughts on this?

Society has gone from working outside performing manual labor to sitting in front of screens most of the day. The body and brain is in a long term state of atrophy

I'm not sure, but just wanted to add I struggle with them too. Wintertime sucks here in KY, because my go to is biking to help my mood/outlook. Just too damn cold to go do it right now.

I'm not sure but I'll upvote your post if you upvote mine because upvotes make me happy and downvotes make me very sad.

Helicopter parenting and over medicating
"Little Johnny can be anything he wants in this world and you can't tell him otherwise or you are bullying him. Now he needs his ADHD medicine."

Because snow flakes made it acceptable to be "not right in the head".

Increased social media use, decreased actual social interactions, increased uncertainty/fear/distrust in the government, other institutions, and each other, and shitty diets and less physical activity
Will vary person to person, but these are some the main drivers of legitimate mental health issues

Social engineers try to overcome humanity which leads to repression of the things we are built for.

we simply have too much information at our disposal
and most of the information is negative
our minds were never meant to process all the bad things happening in the world all the time

When I worked in the field just starting 20 years ago, I loved it. Always outside and stayed busy working hard. About 10 years ago I got “promoted” to an office job. It’s miserable tbh now I’m just waiting to retire. I don’t think we were designed to live the lives most of us are living nowadays.

Maybe because I’m the only person who still works and everybody else has an ebt card

you're on the right track here I think, but you dont go far enough. the feminist takeover of the entire culture going back to the 50s is probably one of the biggest factors overall.
