I ran into a Walmart Neighborhood Market today for some toiletries.

Two people ahead of me in the checkout line was an old man. He had a turkey and a couple of other food items.

The old man's card simply would not go through. He made 5 attempts. I know this because the lady behind me was on her phone counting the tries and bitching to the person on the other end.

I saw the cashier pull a card from her back pocket. She walked around and asked for the man's card. When she turned to the card reader she had her back to him. She inserted her card, entered a pin, and the sale cleared. She then turned and handed the man his card back, and said, "there you go, that got it."

He thanked her for getting his card to go through. The old man never realized she paid for his food with her card.

The guy in front of me told her "that was nice." She simply nodded and continued to ring him up. It was obvious she was not seeking recognition for her good deed.

There are still some decent people left.

Merry Christmas

The more negativity that is spewed out by our media further reinforces the fact that there are tons of people who try to live right and do good every day that go unnoticed.
Thanks for sharing!

And you didn't slip her a 10-spot or something to help her offset the loss?

Was the old man’s card declining or was he just bad at using a credit card machine?

I am pretty sure it was declinng since she used her card instead of assisting him with his.

Chase Bank cards sometimes trigger a fraud alert at Walmarts for some reason… you call say it was you and put the card back in and it works.. this also happens sometimes with American Express cards also

I think this only happens at self checkouts

Getting back to the OT topic about carrying cash. This is where it comes in handy. I'd have made sure the lady got it.

The fact she did not seek acknowledgement makes the effort worth triple in the good deeds column.

Recently I saw an elderly black lady tip the Walmart cashier 40 dollars and thanked her for her hard work. Place was packed and she was the only one working out of all the registers.

I did the same to a guy working at dominoes pizza. He was by himself running all over between the cashier, the ovens, and the pick up window. He had no help and was visibly exhausted. I tipped him generously because he got my order 100% correct despite all of that and was genuinely polite to me when I would probably would have been pissed to hell and back

This is true of people much more than we see. The negative is amplified by the media, both MSM and social. Still a ton of good people in my neck of the woods.

When you say old, you don't clarify how old. Further, we're assuming he's trying to use his personal credit card.
With that, it pains me to see someone nearly get denied food, yet our government willingly hands out free food via EBT to millions of younger, more able bodied people .
This guy has probably lived I the United States his whole life paying taxes, still denied.
Yet, illegal immigrants pour across the border and Biden eagerly hands them all sorts of freebies in order to garner votes in the future

Matthew 6:1-4
“Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. “Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

There is plenty of good in This world if you don’t form your opinions from politics and social media and actually interact with normal people

But that’s an awesome story. Glad she did that. Did you tip her?
