Is Firing Paul Mainieri Our Best Decision?

Over the last few years of terrible tiger baseball seasons, I have heard many comments such as," Kramer Sucks!", or " This Makes Me Want To Tiger Throw Up,". But out of all these household, barbershop, and barstool talks, what I hear most is," Get Mainieri Out Of Here!" From my understanding Paul is one of the most winningest baseball coaches in LSU long proud history. He has a College World Series Title under his old, worn out, saggy belt. Great recruiter, great mentor, great father-figure. Above everything else he has done so much for the Tiger community. So I urge you today to renew the Mainieri contract and keep our Tiger family intact.

This is false.

Has there been news that he’s being fired or are you throwing shite against the wall?

I don’t want to see him fired...I do hope he retires after this season though. He looks tired and uninspired in the dugout.

Skip won 5 championships in what? 11 years or whatever. CPM won one a long time ago with players that were already there. The program has gone and is going backwards. He is worn out and he shows it in every press conference and the way he approaches the job. Keeping the Tiger Family intact is not even a real fact. Under that, why ever make changes? Coaching is a performance based propositon. He isn't producing winning baseball at championship program.

His overall resume’ is excellent, but a coach is evaluated season by season and unfortunately the trend at LSU has been a steady decline.

Has it really though? Granted this season has been a huge letdown and we didn't make it to Omaha in 18 or 19, but I don't know that it's really a "steady decline" when our last real season we went 17-13 in SEC play.
2017 LSU 52–20 21–9 1st (West) College World Series Runner-Up
2018 LSU 39–27 15–15 4th (West) NCAA Regional
2019 LSU 40–26 17-13 3rd (West) NCAA Super Regional
2020 LSU 12–5 0–0 6th (West) Season canceled due to COVID-19

Age and medical issues can hinder "fire in the belly."
LSU needs to send him off with a nice retirement package.
Thank you for your service.

I hope he retires too.
He'll probably use the built-in COVID excuse & then blame his players...

How do you know hes a great recruiter?

Also, have you been under a rock? It's been said that hes gonna retire at the end of the year. This is from multiple people that are close to the program and it just feels like this is it when you watch him in the dugout.
It's gotten to the point that you could describe it as a badly held secret that he retires.

He will retire due to “health” reasons.

If you hold a coaches success against what Skip did every coach in college baseball would be a remarkable failure. The expectations for this program should be incredibly high, but if this fanbase is always expecting Skip level success they’ll always be disappointed.

Great recruiter and evaluator...
It’s an embarrassment, but at least he finds it funny. This can only happen to someone who does zero player evaluations and comes in to offer the scholarship at last minute. He is a game manager that can’t manage the game. Lame duck coach.

No one will ever win 5 titles in 10 seasons again. It’s definitely time for Mainieri to retire but this is a poor argument.

It’s time. He’s done here. So many great instructors and recruiters out there. LSU will improve with a new coach.
