If you’re only a father figure to your best players than you’re a shitty father figure.

I dont Know anything but that was always the word on the street, that guys did not like Paul.

People will pick apart the good and try to downplay it as something not that impressive.
We can talk about how 2017 only happens because 3 juniors turn down hundreds of thousands of dollars to come back and play for each other one last time to try and win a championship. They lose most of that money doing that.

Paul is hated by some good athletes too you know. The Deichmann stuff is pretty public. There’s more but most people aren’t vocal because they love LSU and don’t want to hurt the program.

Awww dem sweet wittle boys got der freelwings huurt. Plenty of coaches in the history of sports go the "tough love" route to get the best out of their players. If they take it personal then frick em. I'm sure there's plenty of players that like Paul too

Who gives a shite? There's athletes all over the NCAA that dislike their coach. There's also plenty that like the same guy.

The ones he favored and never criticized. Some he went out of his way to protect yet wouldn’t do that for others. shite like that gets out and it can be a toxic environment that parents and kids would rather avoid.

Players love their tough love coaches when they can look back and remember winning as a result.

You seem to a lot considering how defensive you’re being.

Also, don’t think it went unnoticed that you crawfished over it just being bad players who hate PM.

No. Letting/making him retire is.

And your post is BS. I talk to ex-players that say the exact opposite of this. It’s all in who you talk to

You trying to rub elbows with some random player and getting the politically correct answer is different than actually being friends with someone and getting the real story bud. Sorry to break that to you, I know you’re a big time insider and all but no one who actually knows any player who wasn’t one of his golden children would call him a “great man or mentor”.

And why exactly would Chris Reid of all people have a reason to complain? Because he had to sit out for 4 months in the offseason? Oh how awful, every player loves offseason workouts. And even if he did have a reason to complain, why would he go on TD and shite all over Mainieri? He got PT as a freshman and in all 4 of his years at LSU, and started every game his senior year as someone who wasn’t particularly talented or productive. He had a pretty fricking charmed career compared to guys who were ultra talented and ended up leaving LSU in 1-2 years and never seeing the field.

Don’t chime in if you’re going to be a pretender who doesn’t know what tf he’s talking about. Anyone who would take your stance hasn’t ever met anyone who’s dealt with that douche, and if my post is “BS” then why don’t you kindly explain why Mainieri has a paper thin roster at one of the premier programs in the country?

Sure but they don’t get the “he’s a great guy and family Man” treatment

And all of that is something a recruit could easily find out about, correct?

Could this be part of the reason we have so many out of state players coming here, the ones closer to the program know how toxic it is?

Ok. I think I’ll keep picking my friends based on what type of people they are vs. their college athletic accomplishments or how much Paul “13-17” Mainieri liked them. Weird arse motherfricker

So in the last 3 complete seasons (4 years), we have a losing record in SEC play ... and you think that's not a steady decline ?

Is 2021 not a real season to you ?

Our baseball program is in a nose dive.

Maybe a small part. There are larger factors right now imo. We are behind on the facilities race, results, and development. Attrition is a normal thing but when it becomes too widespread and you’re sending local kids off to other colleges because they failed here for whatever reason, those kids talk a lot to their friends who are often pretty good players too. A combination of these things would be why Louisiana kids go to State, Ole Miss, etc.

Freeman signed for $340k, just $50k below slot, and Kramer was a 32nd round draft pick after 2016. Kramer made more money by coming back. Poche is the only guy that lost any significant money by coming back, and he quit baseball early in his 2nd full season in the minors so does it really matter at this point?

He didn't really do that, actually. He did not hold the grudge that many expected him to in that thread.
