How do we feel the umpiring was on the last 3 games?

Thought overall it was FAR better than the abomination in Game 2. The last 3 games I felt like I haven't even noticed them at all (of course we've been winning). There were 1-2 bad calls per game but nothing that took the game over and shifted the outcome. Thought overall it was super clean. Glad the baseball did the talking and not the umps.

I thought it was solid last night. The home plate umpire was calling strikes on the first base side of the home plate when the ball was clearly off of home plate and a ball. But he was consistent for both pitchers. That's all you can ask for, consistency.

I think the zone has been bad the last couple of games BUT it has been a consistent zone. As long as it’s consistent, catchers, pitchers and hitters aren’t lost (game 2 was an example of a highly inconsistent zone)

Then you have the obvious safe Deamon Deac and WF had to use a challenge on the reverse

I think the same first base umpire missed a successful lsu pick attempt in the later part of Skenes outing, but we didn’t review

Other than that, last night was a well called game

I think the umpiring has not been bad overall. There have been some odd strike zones, but I have not seen a lot of calls for one side and not the other. One ump has a very low strike zone and all teams should have been aware of that the second time around.

Frankly, I don't care what the zone is as long as it is the same for both teams.

Outside of Monday's 6th inning I think the umpire has been fairly consistent with their calls. I don't care if they have a tight or loose zone as long as it was consistent. That 6th inning was not consistent at all it was very strange.

I thought overall the calls behind the plate last night were fair and consistent. No one calls a perfect game in my opinion.
I'm not forgetting nor will I ever accept Casey Moser as an umpire of a college baseball game!

Man, I hope the Game 2 ump is watching from the stands this weekend. Never want to see his face again

There was a moment in Wednesday night's game where it appeared the zone changed while Wake was at-bat. Saw a few mention it here on the board, but I think it was also shortly after one of our pitching changes so it may have been the ump adjusting to the new movement.

Other than that, I'd echo the same sentiment as other posters; the umps were not perfect with their zones but they were consistent.

Agree. Texted a buddy last night that the umpiring had improved so much since the start of the tournament. Strike zone has been more consistent, had a couple calls overturned but nothing controversial or one-sided.

Anything looks better than that one sided paid off abomination.

Proud of the team and their focused business like attitude despite that agenda driven Ump.

Note: Without that 6th inning bitch, Skenes is good to go against Florida.

Unfortunately, the time has come to take the human factor out of umpiring. Some of the guys are good- Some not so good.

Bad umpiring altars, the flow and outcomes of games. The technology is now there to take that element out of the game and it’s time the NCAA put it to use.

Let the umpires stay behind home plate and manage the game.

You can make an argument that fat arse behind home plate in the first Wake Forest game cost us the game. Now to be fair, he was bad on both teams. Its time.

All you can ask for is consistency and I thought Home plate ump did a solid job of that last night.

I’d love to see a box on the strike zone like they have for mlb games. Game 2 ump would never ump again.

This

I dont mind an ump calling the occasional ball a strike. What i absolute cannot stand is calling a strike a ball. I would 1000% want a wide consistent zone and not the abomination we saw in Wake game 1

Wake Forest Gm 1 - the ump was Frank Drebin from Naked Gun

Tenn elimination game- best strike zone all year

Wake Gm 2&3- the umps were decent. Both teams had legitimate gripes about 2-3 punch outs.

Game 2 was a mess. Beyond that, it’s been relatively consistent for pitchers/batters.

It was better.

All of them seem to have big vertical zones and tight horizontal zones. They seem to expand on 2 strike calls for some reason.

Makes it an even better place to pitch if you have the horses

Was the game 2 home plate ump at 1st last night? If that was him he blew 2 calls. They reversed the one where the WF runner was safe but he screwed up Skenes pickoff when the runner was clearly out. shite happens but if that was the same ump he should be canned.
