Can LSU meet or exceed texas' wallet? We are talking 7M - 10M easy.

What is LSU expecting to pay?

Texas has more money that's the truth. Would Herman go to a booster run program?

LSU could absolutely match whatever salary Texas offers. It's the extra perks you get from the Texas boosters LSU can't compete with.

LSU could easily cover that salary from their yearly profits. But no way is Herman getting paid more than Saban

Most situations $ talks has been the frequent outcome. He may be the variation.

I don't think Herman's agent will ask for $3 million over Saban's salary.

You guys say that, but Texas will pay >5M for Herman and Saban isnt available. With amount of high profile positions that are looking to be open by end of this year, they have all the leverage.

I mean, if UT goes 7-10 million, I don't think LSU will match and I'm not sure if they should.

And I can't imagine UT would offer 7-10 million.

I bet they start at 4-5 and then it will be a 'who will go higher' contest between the two schools.

They won't. These Texas people are funny though with their admiration for their own wealth

If you look at Strong's salary, starting at 5M is the minimum. Combine that with the possibility of 4-5 D1 name openings by the end of the year, I can see it north of 7M easily.

With no viable backup option, LSU is almost forced to match right? Jimbo wont make a lateral move from a no income tax to an income tax

No coach is getting $10M, not even Saban.

Herman will walk out of this off-season with $4.5M, tops, IMO. There won't be a bidding war and there won't be a lot of drama; it'll happen fast and it'll happen quiet.

I'd like Herman to be the LSU head coach. If Texas is offering tons of money for him, c'est la vie.

I think there would be a bidding war. Its a do or die for Texas and LSU at this point.

Not really. Herman is a good coach and likely has a bright future in front of him but neither LSU nor UT is going to make him the highest paid coach in the country. Especially when he might not even be LSUs #1 candidate.

honestly, Saban would be worth every cent of 10 million 3 years ago. Now, I'm not sure considering his age.

It will depend on the Jimbo camp. I think if they feel Jimbo is a yes, they may try $5 mil to Herman as a one time shot, then hire Jimbo at $5.5 if he says no. If Texas offers Herman $6+ mil, it won't be worth the bidding war. Can't predict the future, but at this point Jimbo at $5.5 >>> Herman at $7
