I never understood why Kansas fired him. Was there a scandal or something?

He told a player "why don't you go back to the hood and get shot with your homies" and that was the first domino to fall about a guy with a not great reputation.

I believe him going to his sons high school football game and losing his mind is another reason.

Solich was a dinosaur and so was Nebraska, maybe they prematurely fired him by a few years but it was inevitable.
Didn’t he do pretty well at Ohio for a while though?

Should be #1

Auburn is the hardest job in CFB. Malzahn had them in contention most years.

Solich was still winning alot and teams are still running option today. Nebraska’s option offense, which was a lot different than any other option offense, was far more suited to last than the teams still currently running it plus Nebraska still hasn’t recovered from the mistake because it isn’t possible to win there any other way.

????? I think it’s Michigan or Notre Dame

Sometimes the worst firings are the ones that don’t happen or happen too late

Question about supposedly not being able to recruit because you run the option or wishbone… is it a self-fulfilling prophecy?

Leach Texas Tech

Controversial.

Reality is that Leach was probably a one big season guy every 3/4 years, and not a sustained success guy. I think he thrived on recruiting and keeping the guys who were up for an impossible challenge (Winning at Tech, WSU, and MSU).

The error was firing Leach and expecting a new coach could turn it around with no controversy. That coach was Tuberville, who was good, but not good enough to overcome what Leach had. He degraded the offense faster than he improved (choke, frick, he didn’t improve the) defense.

Miracle win over OU in 2011 aside, the biggest problem was that RG3 elevated Baylor into the conference postseason picture

Rumor was Solich got a cheerleader pregnant and the recruiting was starting to fall behind.

Speaking of O…he should go to Northwestern State and revive his alma mater’s program. Anything would be better than what they have now.
