I really like Taggart. Have followed his career a little. He would be an interesting hire for a bigger program at some point soon.

from Wiki:

quote:

When Jim Harbaugh was named head coach of the Stanford Cardinal football team following the 2006 season, he hired Taggart as his running backs coach. Taggart served in that role for the next two seasons, notably developing Doak Walker Award winner and Heisman runner-up, Toby Gerhart, into a star during that time. The younger Harbaugh also gave Taggart responsibility for recruiting in Taggart's home state of Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, and Riverside County, California.

We need to keep Aranda happy. Even if he takes a HC job elsewhere. Eventually I could see him being a lsu HC candidate like Jimbo is now.

Watch the games. Total disorganization and poor communication. Ace Recruiter, do not think he will be successful as a h.c. unless he makes better staff hires.

Random LSU Hero

Here's a question I'd like to ask you. You may / may not know, and I'm only working on rumors that I heard.

Around here, a few people who know things thought Chip Kelly reached out to LSU last year. Is there any truth to that?

*ETA - People who know things about the Philadelphia Eagles, who Kelly was coaching last year.

Every insider I've heard from (here and 247) doesn't think that the bridge was burned. Jimbo didn't get a crazy raise or anything and now some FSU fans are tired of him.

He has a much better opportunity here and he's gotta know it. Why would someone turn down a raise, a job upgrade, and be put in a position where they could be the greatest coach in the nation and dominate in the SEC.

Hes got a golden chance here. These don't come by often.

Not crazy about either of these names, though at least Fedora has won at USM and UNC. Taggart is just now showing signs of life at USF.

Hopefully we lure Jimbo or Herman and this is a short search.

Will be a mistake if Herman isn't our #1. Make him say no to 5.5 mil a year plus incentives and then move on to Jimbo.

Western Kentucky under Taggart in 2011 was the most prepared and least intimidated team we played at home that year.

And the stuff they did that worked for them on offense ended up reappearing in Bama's gameplan in the NCG.

Fedora would be a very solid four after Herman/Jimbo/Petrino if you can't see going with O.

I trust you guys and your sources. I have one friend who is a TAF member and ive been under the impression that we were very much in advanced negotiations with herman. idk. he broke the jimbo news to me last yr as everything began to unfold immediately after the ole miss loss. although ive been clamoring for herman, I'd take fisher in a heartbeat.

I did notice that Random answered my page 1 question about keeping Aranda and ignored the first part. :D

When you say we were in advanced negotiations with Herman, when were we in advanced negotiations with Herman? That's interesting.

Is LSU clinging to Jimbo because of his history with LSU and his championship at FSU?

If so that's very shortsighted.

I appreciate everything Jimbo did for LSU, but FSU can have him, give me Herman.
