Is LSU clinging to Jimbo because of his history with LSU and his championship at FSU?

I'm sure his unbelievable track record at developing QBs is being taken into account as well.

The big money most likely has at least some familiarity with Jimbo and like him. I don't necessarily know if last year's flirting with him would've happened if he didn't already have ties to folks at LSU

I don't know, I mean Les Miles did pretty well here without being able to develop a QB. Fedora does that, and does it pretty well. We always talk about Louisiana being full of skill players, and most of them have been coming to LSU since the late 90's/early 00's. If Fedora can just keep the pipeline flowing, develop good QB's, and field good defenses, he couldn't be any worse than Les.

I'm under the impression that pretty much anyone can succeed if Les did for over a decade. If all of the stuff coming out about how he ran the program is true, literally anyone can run this program with mediocre success.

We just wanna find someone who can push us over the hump.

I don't think its fedora.

If it's Fedora, say goodbye to DBU.

I think if we roll of 6 wins out of 7 or something like that, it's not so much a credit to Coach O as it is a discredit to Les Miles. This team had serious flaws for the first four games of the year, we remove Miles and Cameron, and then we throw up remarkable stats in the first game following about 4 days of practice?

Say good bye to ever fielding a decent defense again. He's the anti-miles.

Maybe, maybe not. And by all means, I am not for Fedora over Jimbo or Herman, or even O if he runs the table or only loses one game. I'm just saying, nobody in their right mind thought that, in 2005 when Les was hired, he would have the run he had. Fedora is a good tier 2 option, after 4 or 5 other guys have said no multiple times.

Agree 100% - seems to me an easy call to take Coach O over Fedora and probably even Frank Wilson.

Fedora hired Chizik; what if he tried to bring him here. OMG!!

If it is Fedora, you know that Aranda would be like see you.

There apparently wasn't much practicing going on those 4 or 5 days. I've always been told the first thing that goes when you get tired is your mind, not your legs. Les making the guys practice so much during the week wore their minds and bodies out, and that explains all the penalties throughout the years.

Guess you weren't around for the Archer, Hallman, or Dinardo years.

Miles wasn't the best coach and there will always be critics after a coach is fired; but you can't argue he was a hell of a recruiter. He is not leaving the pantry empty, the next guy will have something to work with unlike how Archer left it.

We don't need to be so obtuse where we think LSU can just hire anyone and at worse they will do what Les did. Just not true.

A proven ACC coach would be behind Frank Wilson, a guy that's coached 5 games in Conference USA? Lol.

I really like Taggart. Have followed his career a little. He would be an interesting hire for a bigger program at some point soon.

Please tell me you are joking about Taggart. Why would hire him with much better options that would jump at the chance. In all seriousness saying we don't get Herman or Jimbo to bite; then you have to get keep what you've got or go talk to Bert @ Arky, Mullen or Fuentes and make them say no to $4M or so and Louisiana football talent.

hes a great QB coach, weve always known that, but i dont think hes a better overall HC than Miles. I dont think hes an upgrade, we'll be different but not better.

Bert and Mullen won't be on the list, ever. SEC schools don't hire away other SEC coaches. And I doubt FUENTE would leave VT after one year.

There was a TX message board moderator's claim that LSU and Herman have already had a "gentleman's agreement" about the job.
woah woah woah, when was this, what board?

Herman is Urban Meyer 2 imo, he should be a very clear number 1 option, this would be great news.
