Also, they can get Kiffin much cheaper than Miles.

I wonder how much each would ask for?

I didn't realize how much this Houston hire would actually affect LSU.

If Miles get's hired, Orlando is off to Texas and they would stop pursuing Aranda (if they indeed are). Kiffin would likely come here. I guess it would be a best case scenario for us. I just have a hard time seeing it.

ETA: Oh, and the Miles buyout lowers if he gets a job. Make it happen Houston.

Briles has been ruled out by Houston. He won't be interviewed.

Houston releases statement, won’t interview Art Briles

Kiffen is absolutely NOT in the running for UH

Sources are 100% solid on this one. Bookmark this Lane Kiffen will NOT be the HC at UH and will NOT be the OC at LSU

I think it will be Kiffin vs Applewhite vs Orlando. And I think Kiffin is the favorite

I think UH will go for an older coach who won't be poached from other schools. In that case, Miles is the favorite.

Les needs superior players to be effective. Houston is a school that must use X&Os to compete because it will not recruit to the level to out skill teams. Kiffen would do better there than Miles.

Purdue would be the perfect place for Miles. A 9 win season there would be like winning the National Championship. Miles could position them behind OSU, MSU, Mich Wisc and PSU and the fan base would be in nivanna.

He can recruit the leftover Southern players from Louisiana, Texas, Georgia and Florida in addition to players from Mich, Indiana and his home state of Ohio. His brand of football would be more competitive in the cold frozen tundra of the Midwest.

K would be gone in 2 years and UH don't want to see that.

Common sense would say Miles.
He runs a clean program, he's loved by recruits and parents and he can hire an OC to run their high powered offense. Probably a stipulation if hired.

He will hurt us a little in recruiting that area.

That's not me wanting Kiffin, I hope we get someone else not named Kiffin.

it shows how much of a joke Les was as a coach

Les Miles isn't a joke as a coach. He wouldn't get his arse out of the offense even though he is a defensive guy. He didn't accidently get to the BCS championship in 2012. Kiffin has never had much success as a head coach except his 2nd year at USC.

From a potential non-LSU employer, I could see how Les Miles could make a strong candidate over Lane. Les is known to be a player's coach and recruit at the highest level, also. Lane has a reputation of being cocky and, even though he has had success at Alabama, he is also under Saban's vigilance.

I would love to have Kiffin as OC. He would not be in my top 50 for HC.

I will be shocked if the hire Kiffin at UH. Whether delusional or not, they have P5 goals and won't get there as a stepping stone.

Miles will have to do one hell of a job selling a new offense. Kiffin has a very successful offensive track record that sells itself.

Both Kiffin and Miles can recruit, but I would give Miles the slight edge there based on track record. Miles is definitely the safest choice. Guaranteed stable program. No flight risk at all. I just wonder what prices he's asking for.

Kiffin will come with a Saban recommendation, and I think he's going to push hard for it. I wonder how much that will factor in.

It just might be hard to sell Miles to that program when they're coming off an offensive genius. I would be surprised. Miles doesn't exactly bring a lot of excitement.

I was listening to some guys talking about it on the radio and they made it sound like Miles didn't have a shot and that it was between the two coordinators and Kiffin. They made it seem like they heard word that Miles was just not right for the culture created by Herman. They could be completely full of shite, though. It wouldn't be the first time the media was way off.

Maybe I'm just trying to not get my hopes up to be let down, but I'm having a hard time buying it. We'll see.

Being fired from 2 jobs and leaving another without telling anyone is considered an "up and comer?"

Sounds to me like "maybe we will give you one last shot."
