It is amazing how far that guys stock has fallen in just a few weeks. He was a hero after the LSU game but since then has made some terrible decisions in both the SC and Auburn games. Fire Elko is starting to show up on social media.

If he gets blown out by the Horns at home, he might be done. While that seems extreme after year one, I don't think the Aggies could take that humiliation.

Not even close

However, after his LSU postgame comments I’m not surprised they’ve fallen apart. The great ones don’t talk like that after wins

If the Texas game is a close loss, sure they will give him another year.

But if Elmo gets blown out by 59-0 or something like that, then yes firing is absolutely on the table, Because at that point A&Ms recruiting will collapse along with their coach.

Look how nervous that dude is on the sideline. His confidence seems gone.

That game really was their Super Bowl. Elko thought he was the cock of the walk after that game.

Life comes at you fast, bitch.

Never seen a coach peacock like that after what has now turned into a completely irrelevant win

Texas is a paper tiger with extremely suspect quarterback play. They are probably better than A&M but I don’t think they are that much better than the A&M / LSU tier of the SEC.

I expect it to be an extremely tight game. Vegas has the line at 7 points so they expect similar.

Some of yall are idiots. There is 0% chance regardless of score Elko is getting fired after 1 year with a good bowl

Probably not even next year.

I e seen some stupid shite on these boards over the years but this is up there

They just paid Fisher $77M to go away. They were 7-6 4-4 in the SEC last year. Everyone thought this was a rebuilding year and they are already better than that. No way is he getting fired no matter what happens he his week

I don’t know what’s more embarrassing for this board, that you are so stupid as to even just have this thought and even worse admitted to it by starting this thread—I mean, it’s actually shocking that you aren’t aware of just how retarded this is —or that you have multiple upvotes apparently agreeing with you.

Texas could go into Kyle Field and beat A&M 1000-0, and unless Elko is either involved in some sort of terrible scandal—or dies—there is 0–absolutely 0 chance that he’s not back on the A&M sideline the 1st Saturday of next September.

I’m serious, I can’t comprehend that you can’t comprehend, just exactly how unfathomably retarded this thread is. You are not living in the real world, my guy. This is video game type nonsense.

Let me ask you a question. Texas A&M gave Jimbo Fisher an absurd contract to come there, an even more absurd extension, with a somehow even MORE absurd guaranteed buyout. AND PAID IT. Paid him 10s and 10s of millions of dollars NOT to coach. They have a shite-ton of money, and with Texas coming into the SEC this year, would have been willing to throw just about anything to get the best coach they could find. And the best guy they could find to take the job was Mike Elko. Now, I actually think he’s a good coach. Apparently you disagree. Fine. I will point out, though, that Auburn is likely not nearly as bad as their record may indicate—they blew some games at the end that they seemingly had already won—Jordan-Hare is one of the toughest places to play on the road, there’s unprecedented parity in the SEC this year, with wild upsets almost every week (did you actually watch any just this past weekend), and home field, for whatever reasons, is a bigger advantage this year than it’s maybe ever been, and I personally don’t think that coming back from a 21-0 deficit on the road to lose in 4 OTs in a game that really didn’t matter relative to their chance of making the SECCG and the CFP, is some sort of unforgivable sin.

But forget all that. For my question, I’ll go ahead and grant you last night was a terrible loss and Elko is a terrible coach. If he was the best guy they could hire last year, after giving Jimbo so much to leave, who in the absolute frick do you think they could talk into taking the job THIS YEAR, after firing Elko after just 1 season when he went 8-4 (5-3) in the craziest, most competitive, just brutal of a grind season we’ve seen in SEC history most likely? Who’s lining up to take that gig with that kind of job security? I mean, I wouldn’t hire anybody dumb and desperate enough to even take it.

If TAMU fired Elko after one solid season, they deserve everything that is coming to them

Stupidity like this is why Coaching Changes is the best board when open. Of course he’s not getting fired. He’s a first year coach taking over a deflated team formerly run by a grifter. He’s put together a solid season. Yeah, USC and Auburn were tough losses and it would suck to lose to the horns. It’s still been a nice first year for a team with major personnel issues including the most important one- the QB.

I don’t know if Elko will be successful or not, but nothing this season portends that he is bound for failure.
