Seriously, why not. We're all butthurt Brady got away. He was basically our OC, even with ZERO experience in such role. Callway is reportedly out of the same mold but has ACTUAL experience as OC at Samford. Putting up amazing numbers, even if it is Samford.

We all clamor for a young up and comer. So why not Russ. He's 33, proven himself against lesser competition, is not a retread or a demotion. Maybe I missed it but I haven't seen his name suggested.

Also, Ive seen Munoz suggested, and he would be great to have back, but as PGC, not OC.

O is not likely to be gone unless Title IX gets him. So here's my wishlist for the likely openings.

Russ Callaway - OC
Munoz - PGC
David Reeves - DC

That’s thinking that O is still the HC after it all boils down

I wouldnt mind the hire if we held a search and it turns out that Russ is the best option.

What I don’t want to happen is for O to be lazy again, look around and say “hey Russ is still here. That’ll work”

I could definitely get behind this.

I got to know Callaway personally after becoming a fan of his during a season at Samford. He’s a workhorse. He never stops ..... he’s definitely got a fire lit under him and is ready to step up when someone tells him it’s time. I just hope he gets promotoed at LSU because if he doesn’t I know he will get snatched up by somewhere else soon. He’s one of the best recruiters and coaches in the business ......
Don’t take my word for it, talk to the players! I’m sure they’ll let you know quick that he needs to stay.

I believe Coach O said he was going to be a super star before the season started. We have to take everything he says now with a grain of salt but don’t see why he wasn’t the PGC this year in the first place?

Coach O? Did you see what he hired when others left last year?

I’m ridin with this.

Only reason Calloway is here IMO is that he got some kind of guarantee he would be moved to OC or a higher position than analyst in near future.

If we don’t elevate him, he gone.

The players seem to love him but I'd rather do a full search.

Maybe he will stay as a qb coach

Why does LSU need a PGC moving forward? Need an OC that can run the whole offense

This makes way too much sense to me to actually happen. They would likely even be cost effective hires. Captain is right though. That would only be predicated on O being retained. If he's gone there will be a new HC with his own hires.

Yes of course its predicated on O still being here. The only way O leaves at this point is Title IX.

And they would be very cost effective compared to a "hot name". The team loves him, he's proven on a lower level, he's young and enjoys recruiting. This list goes on.

I would take Russ over Kendall Briles all day long. I think Briles has kind of ridden the coattails of his headcoaches during his successful seasons. Absent an offensive minded head coach, he's very pedestrian. And would command a big paycheck.

Lots of teams have passing game coordinators. Most of them (including the multiple PGC’s at LSU pre-Brady) are really WR coaches with a more prestigious title.

It's terrifying to think that some people on this board think O should still be here. My goodness it's embarrassing!
