Hasn’t had a top 25 class in his two seasons there…he can be the best coach in regards to scheme but if he can’t recruit he won’t last 3 seasons.

Just wait until they don’t win 10 games next season and not in the top 5 in recruiting.

He just played for a national championship with 3* recruits. This is an A+ hire. The guy can coach. He hires a staff that can recruit and he’s in great shape. He is no Mike Shula.

Alabama is not about to start having 20 plus rated classes come on.

Everyone is a risk

They hired a coach who is known as a great coach and just won a game in the college football playoff. There’s not a lot of those to choose from.

But it’s like you guys think Alabama didn’t discuss these things with DeBoer. “Hey. We would LOVE to have you here, but we need to discuss X,y,z.” You think if they didn’t like their answer they would have hired him?

DeBoer isn’t paying the recruits. The guys paying him are. So they will continue to recruit if they want to. That’s how it works. Unless DeBoer is a complete failure and refuses to recruit, they will be fine.

Won’t be a problem. Bama will recruit itself for a few years no matter what. I’d be more worried about a bulk of his wins coming from the equivalent of the minor leagues in baseball.

They gonna walk recruits to the Saban statue and money will come out to get them to commit.

Bc it’s harder to recruit at UW than Alabama. He won’t be as good as Saban but he won’t be bad like he was at UW.

Disagree with this part. He is very much an unknown. He has coached a total of 3.5 years as a head coach so far. No, I don't count little league.

He did poor year 1(covid year). Then had a decent year and left. Goes to Wash and has a decent year in year 1, then has an amazing year(the only one) and leaves.

I don't consider that resume a known great coach. Would be like calling Orgeron a known great coach after 2019. Guy catches lightening in bottle with Penix. Maybe he can sustain it, maybe not.

But Washington was going to suck bad next year with all the players they are losing. And if he stayed, nobody would want to hire him.

They think the school recruits itself but realistically there are about 10 schools who could claim the same and yet many have had issues with recruiting when the coach lacks.

Not a bama fan at all but come on do you really think recruiting Washington is anything like recruiting bama. He will be fine recruiting.

Not to you. Not to me. To Alabama and their decision makers. They would not have hired him if they didn’t think he was a great coach.

The AD thinks he’s a great coach

The people paying the money think he’s a great coach

He just went to the championship game

If they thought he was going to go there and start recruiting losers, there’s no way they would have hired him.

Do you guys really think recruiting is not being discussed right now at this moment?

I’m not saying the guy is a sure thing but I definitely think you guys are putting way too much emphasis on this. They’re not going to let the place burn to the ground like Auburn guys be real.

By that standard, every coach ever hired at top level schools is a known great coach. Sometimes you take chances. Nobody in the world knows if his success will translate to Bama or not. I'm just saying the sample size on this guy is very small. He could very well be the next best great coach who wins multiple championships. I just think he is unknown and a higher risk. But I don't think Bama could get anyone who wasn't a risk, they all said no.

nobody ever lets the place burn down on purpose.

Are you saying Alabama does not think DeBoer is a great coach?

I'm saying they absolutely do think it. But that doesn't make it true. They also thought Mike Shula, Price, and Franchione were great coaches when they hired them, among others, who turned out to be garbage.
