Just say he's mediocre. He's luke warm. And honestly, that's all the gas he's got in the tank. Jimbo is not a good hire.

His dysfunctional antiquated offense sucks to high heaven. No way Jimbo ever wins shite with that lame arse offense.

That dysfunctional antiquated offense beat Bama with a backup QB.

Riley couldn't even beat Bama with Kyler Murray. Riley also hasn't appeared the least bit interested in fielding a passable defense.

You do realize minus Clemson. Lsu plays the same schedule right?

"You do realize that if you take away the thing that makes it unique its not unique anymore, right?" - you.

Where is that coach that's playing that schedule and doing better than Jimbo? Congrats you're setting the bar at unattainable.

But sure a coach who's never been on the big stage (and has never won his smaller conference), or a coach who's only been winning for half a season are definitely more sure things than Jimbo.

If he would ever hire a good OC that would bring the offense in the 21 century he would destroy teams. Until then he will be mediocre. Always recruits good. Has a good DC

On Jimbo's results, in his third year at A&M, they finished ranked 4th in the country. That is literally their best finish since 1939. In the interim, Bear Bryant and Gene Stallings (both multiple time national championship coaches) coached there for a combined 11 seasons and neither finished that high. He has also substantially improved upon their recruiting.

Results of joining the SEC and not of the current coach. Look back at even under Sumlin. Their recruiting ranking shot up 10 to 15 spots on average right after joining the SEC. Jimbo has only made them slightly better than they were under Sumlin. Both beat Bama the same number of times and ended up doing nothing with it.

Jimbo is certainly not the worst coach we could hire. But he isn’t as great as some on here make him out to be.

Yes. See my above post on A&M recruiting. You can’t dispute that it got better mostly because of joining the SEC.

Exactly.

Lots of these "historical" arguments are based around TAMU being a legit "little brother" in other conferences. All that changed when they joined the SEC (UT sucking doesn't hurt, either). You see how much impact the SEC brand had in their 'crootin.

Hell, they made UT and OU into "little brothers" because they're not tucking their tails and coming to the SEC.

Les Miles and Ed Orgeron won championships here. Jimbo is a more talented coach than both and would not have any problems putting together championship caliber teams here. LSU is a unique place in that it can pull in almost every major recruit in talent rich Louisiana without having to compete against another big time in state school and can attract recruits from other hot beds such as Texas, Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia.

Not a Jimbo fan but this is intellectually dishonest. There’s like 12 FBS teams in Texas not to mention LSU right next door constantly raiding. They’re not just competing with UT.

I don't want Jimbo and I hope Auburn beats him today. Jimbo and Ed O both rode a QB to their fame. Ed fizzled out and Jimbo quit on and destroyed FSU, Jimbo is obviously better than Ed but he's only just a little above mediocre if that.

It’s hard to blow the doors off anything when your entire male fan base is blowing the backs out of each other. How anyone could be a fan of those weirdos, blows my mind. Truly a delusional, super creepy, weird school. I’d rather go to the university of Phoenix

Certainly got better after joining the SEC, beating Bama, Johnny winning the Heisman, and A&M building the finest stadium in college football.

Then Sumlin, who really was a great recruiter when he wanted to be, started sucking.

And now Jimbo is stacking top 10 classes and competing for the top class this year.

He’s definitely taken it to a different level.

The crazy part is that A&M still stacks top 10 classes, will sign a top 5 class this year, including 3 of the top 10 players in the country (2 of which aren’t from Texas), despite having this super repulsive, weird, and homoerotic culture.

Wild.
