Why hasn't Jimbo blown the doors off at A&M?

He wasn't coming in to a full rebuild. Best facilities, smack in the middle of the best recruiting territory when the other big dog in the state has been average to below average. While he hasn't flopped, fair tovsay he hasn't done as well as many expected.

It's probably because he's using the wrong primer.

Well for starters, his offense is average to above average at its best.

He recruits and hires well enough to cover for that for the most part, though, so at least he’s got that going for him.

Yeah, I'm not going to knock Jimbo for his time at aggy -- that program is a literal coaching graveyard.

I'm more concerned over his penchant for losing to unranked teams at FSU, and how he left the program in shambles.

Because the Brown Door is in Hammond, not College Station.

He finished 2nd in West behind Bama 2 out of his first 3 years at A&M.

He will likely make 3/4 vs LSU too.

Aggie spends a ton of money on football, they have an open check book for staffing, and he’s had a stranglehold on Texas recruiting with UT being terrible for God knows how long now. Saying oh it’s just A&M doesn’t hold water

Support and resources dwindled at FSU. They were cheap as frick. Well documented.

Hasn’t won a NC since 1939 (and that’s a claimed one). Primarily because they’re in a tough location - they have to compete for talent on a yearly basis w/ UT, Arkansas, SMU, TCU, Oklahoma, US.

Jimbo was never going to win anything there.

I live in FL and all my friends are FSU alumni. They all say Jimbo is not the reason for the current state of the program. That blame falls on the Athletic dept. They’re still pissed about jimbo leaving. The dept wouldn’t listen to him on making improvements and while that was happening his wife was sleeping around tally. So he went for a fresh start elsewhere.

You guys give too much credit to coaches. It all depends on what players you have. Look at the Stanford coach David Shaw who makes a lot of money. He is about to go 3-6 in pathetic pac-12.

It's funny because it's true! Primer means everything. And don't be lazy and think an extra coat doesn't help.

He's done that at A&M plenty as well

There's no reason A&M shouldn't be one of the top 2-3 teams in the SEC year in and year out with their resources, really any decent coach should be able to get to 9-10 wins there.

He's been more consistent than Sumlin there, but has really only replicated his best seasons. There is NOTHING stopping that program from being a contender every few years other than coaching currently

A&M has been tomorrow's superpower as long as I can remember and I'm pushing 50.

It's just A&M makes perfect sense to me

He walked into 8-4 talent. He's now got it up to about 10-2 talent. He's on his way to playoff talent.
