Why doesn't Pete Carmichael get mentioned in coaching searches?

The guy coaches arguably one of the most prolific quarterbacks in NFL history and was able to learn under one of the most brilliant offensive minds in football. Is he horrible in the interview process? Or is he just happy being a coordinator? I would think teams would be lining up to grab a coach under Sean Payton....

Bc Payton and Brees run the offense and he hasn’t even called plays most of the time even though he has the OC title

i don't think the Saints have ever had an assistant to be hired as a head coach in 51 years as a franchise.

Jim Haslett’s Offensive Coordinator won a Super Bowl as a HC after he left New Orkeans. Look it up, you might recognize the name.

Not true. Saints had the #2 offense that year

Yeah I remember Jim Mora had a few that went on to be head coaches. Could be another if Vic Fangio gets hired as one. His name has popped up. He was the LB coach here from 86 to 94. Coached the Dome Patrol

Mike McCarthy

We've had a couple go from coordinator to college HC

I think the deal with Carmichael is that he's not the playcaller.

I think the perception is a lack of grit or tough guy is my best guess. Whether that's warranted or not who knows but there's got to be some merit to it. Even Ryan Pace hired Matt Nagy over Pete Carmichael.

There was also the time he called plays when Payton was injured, you may remember that offense as the #1 offense in NFL history

I see 13 people down voted this, you can down vote it all you want but I am pretty sure he is correct.

Not sure how that’s a slight to Carmichael. Nagy has done a great job

Not really, it's a pretty vague statement.

I just don't think Carmichael is a good interview. Knowledge wise, he has to be way up there, and Campbell is getting looks. He doesn't call plays.
