Normally you only do that if a coach has a chance to be poached? ED O only plays at LSU. No one would have relentless a flyer on the guy.

Costing us big now. And no it’s not my money but still. That’s money that could have went to the program, facilities, new coach, etc… money management is still relevant.

Because he is a con man.

He made LSU believe that he would hire the best coordinators (lol) and have LSU at a consistently competitive level.

After winning the natty, it seemed like that was a possibility.

Irrational exuberance and myopia in the wake of 2019.

I don't like when people say "why do you care, it's not your money." It affects the team and the program.

It's like saying, "why do you care Myles is injured, it's not your arm."

That money sends the message to our next coaching targets; win at LSU and you will be rewarded. And you don't have to just take our word for it, look what we did for Ed O.

It's a lot tougher to attract top coaches if you have a reputation of not paying the coach.

How is it costing us?

Anyone who doesn’t understand why you extend a coach and add a buyout after winning a natty is a moron.

This board is full of morons.

It's a terrible look to pay all these coaches to go away the same year you reduced staff, put in a hiring freeze until 2023, asked staff to take 5% pay cut, and went begging to the boosters for more money, because of the Covid shortfall in revenue.

He won a natty with the a perfect record that includes a SEC championship and 2 playoff games. I understand the issues now, but in the corporate world that is like achieving top performer in your job one year and saving your company millions. He was given a job with many hard to achieve goals and hit every one of them.

He won the NC and his trajectory appeared strong. Nobody predicted this collapse.

The buyout money comes from private donors so if it wasn't going to Ed it'd be going into some baw's camp

Not really hard to understand why. Many reasons, actually.

1.) He can put us on the death penalty with the NCAA if it got ugly

2.) We need the perception we're not just going to treat every coach like Miles especially after he just won us a NC. It would give us a bad look and make coaches second guess coming here.

3.) We have too much negative PR as it is from investigations so this needed to pass fast and painless

He wasn't going anywhere after the Natty and nobody wanted him. He was supposed to be the TG Maxx discount coach that spent his money on coordinators.

He is was and always has been low character. Anyone that would recruit a kid to a school (on their dime) and tell them later not to go to class so they could follow him and Kiffin, is a fraud.

You think it doesn't affect the program if the boosters run out of money? You're nuts. LSU does not have the money Bama or Georgia have. You can only milk that cow so many times.
