I looked at it before, and they had some decent years before that as well. I'm still not 100% sold on Golesh, but I agree he has potential. He isn't my first choice, though

Outside of a few no brainer candidates. Golesh is the best overall in my opinion.
Youth, offensive minded, track record of improvement and success, and most importantly… wouldn’t require $10m+ contract for 10 years.

Before Golesh arrived there, USF's last winning season came in 2018.
Its about what you inherit. Obviously nothing that was in place in 2018 was still there when Golesh took the job in 2023.

Golesh gets there and immediately turns things around. They should finish 11-1 this season.
That'll be tough since they already have 2 losses.
Again, I don't understand why people love Golesh, but don't want to touch Sumrall when Sumrall's resume exceeds Golesh.

You're correct. I was thinking solely in conference where they have one loss.

Most of the fan base would prefer an offensive minded HC imo.
Also, Golesh took over an unmitigated disaster and, in year three, has his team looking better than Sumrall's Tulane squad. Granted, a lot can change for both down the stretch. It is too bad they don't have a head-to-head matchup this year.
Tulane has a big game at Memphis this weekend after looking like shite against UTSA last Thursday night.

Golesh took over a disaster at USF. Fun offense too.
Played Bama tough twice, won at the swamp this year.
He is my G5 choice by a long shot

To be fair, USF won 4 games in the 3 years before he got there and he won 7 his first year.
That and his experience as a SEc OC where he had some monster offense makes him an attractive middle tier candidate
compare him to sumrall
Sumrall has 0 experience calling plays. he was a Co-DC for 1 year with Brad White and Stoops as the HC. that’s a pay raise title
Sumrall’s most impressive resume mark is improving Troy.
I think he has been good not great at Tulane. He took over a pretty strong program from Fritz and honestly hasn’t made it better.
I just in general am very concerned about any coach without coordinator experience

Sumrall took over a mess at Troy and won the Sun Belt both years he was there.

Agreed, although Tulane blew out USF last year.

Immediate turnaround
Has coached for two high end if not flashy coaches - Heupel and Campbell

He’s also at frickin USF while playing teams like florida and miami.

It’s mostly the way they play the game. One of the most physical g5 teams in the country

South Florida is about to play on ESPN. I’ll be watching to have an open mind.

our fans are idiots, and so they swallow anything these 134 pound douchebag "sports media" guy say
if we hire Golesh, I'm fricking done - i've already said it and I'll keep saying it

Why do people want Golesh?
Easy. Ppl like Offense.
His last yr at UT they avg'd 46 ppg
USF avg'd 28 ppg the season before his arrival and now they avg 40 ppg

14-0 in the first and the offense hasn’t taken a single snap.
I’m fully on the Golesh train.

65 yd td drive without a single pass was legit.

He’s the best young coach in the country. He was a great OC at Tennessee. His teams are very physical. With LSU’s talent his offenses would score a lot of points.
