I would absolutely melt if we even considered James Franklin.

He didn’t do shite till the NM St. crew got there. Jerry Kill and Beck are running that show.

Any retread is a complete failure hire.

Mullen
Petrino
Bielema
Gruden
Jimbo
Franklin
Stoops

I don't think there's any way those would fly though.

Mullen- lazy recruiter
Lashley- a lucky year at SMU, untested in running a big program
Fisch- lots of subpar seasons and only one 10 win season
Gruden- awful on many levels
Shepherd- maybe one day but he needs experience before leading such a big program

To a lesser degree:
Franklin- doesn’t win big games and seems like Kelly experience all over again
Lea- may be great but also may have caught lightning in a bottle at Vandy

Forgot about another….Joe Brady.
No experience as a head coach, little to no experience with recruiting, and his only qualifications is that two offenses he led successfully had all-pro/all time greats running his plays.

Worst case scenario is going all in on Kiffin and being left standing at the altar when Ole Miss empties the vault. That's how you end up with Franklin and I can absolutely see it happening.

This is LSU. There will be a melt regardless of the hire, and folks calling for his firing after the first season, and a pile of people saying “I told you so” when he is inevitably fired.
