Being that next year will be Joe Pa's last, do you think it's Al Golden's job, or will they go after a more high profile name?

Its not gonna be Saban. I am fairly convinced that Saban is within three years of retirement. He doesn't seem to have the same fire and seems to be really aging. I could be wrong, but I don't think Saban coaches much longer.
As to PSU, I have heard many times they intend to promote from within.

If I were AD, I would make Pat Fitzgerald take the job or file a restraining order on me for all of the phone calls.

What's he gonna do? I can't imagine someone going from being such a maniacal workaholic to a professional boater/lounger all day every day for the next 20 years or so.

Really? When did that happen?
I wouldn't be surprised if they give him an extension but make him name a "coach in waiting" for recruiting purposes.

$aban
I'm sure $exton is already working the phone and laying the ground work.
This in no way means it will happen but will happen is $aban will end up with more than he is making now.

I think Nick Saban is a real possibility. He's from the area--coal miner's son as he often reminds everyone. He'll probably embrace the challenge of an enlarged Big Ten and a huge but probably more sane fan base in Happy Valley.

I did not know that Coach Paterno was retiring at the end of next year?

I think PSU would have to go thru a sort of dark ages before this would happen. Unless he dies on the job, Joe Pa will have a great deal of input and I just can't imagine that he would support Saban as his successor.

It will be a in-staff hire.
