Well considering Jay Johnson has been to Omaha and a championship, I don’t know that there is one.

How little do you think of Jay Johnson that you’re throwing Doeren out there?

Clawson is a hell of a coach, but he seems made for a program like Wake. I'm not sure how he'd fit at a program where you are expected to recruit at an elite level like LSU.

If Wake runs the table... Dave Clawson.

Doeren is literally the epitome of NC State. He’s going to be there for a long time and I don’t think LSU has interest. Doeren turned down UT when it came open when Butch Jones was fired.

Sounds like it would be Riley!

Offensive guy. Been to the equivalent of Omaha a bunch of times.

By Jay Johnson hire I assume you mean the name that’s not on anybody’s radar at the moment and would seemingly come out of nowhere but still be a great hire?

If that’s the criteria, I’d say PJ Fleck.

If the criteria is the same as above with the additional of having been to the promised land (CFP = CWS), I’d say Ryan Day.

Edit: I don’t think either one should be the guy, just best guess based on the hypothetical OP.

Arizona Wildcats Baseball (Pac-12 Conference) (2016–2021)
2016 Arizona 49–24 16–14 3rd College World Series Runner-up
2017 Arizona 38–21 16–14 4th NCAA Regional
2018 Arizona 34–22 14–16 6th
2019 Arizona 32–24 15–14 6th
2020 Arizona 10–5 0–0 Season canceled due to COVID-19
2021 Arizona 45–18 21–9 1st College World Series
Arizona: 208–114 82–67

Is that Tier 1 level?

Let's let Jay Johnson get thru one season before annointing him. If he loses a series or weekday game, the pitchfork crowd will be out in force.

Jay Johnson would likely be the OC If Mel Tucker gets hired.

Napier

Jay Johnson had multiple CWS appearances.

The closest Napier has gotten to the CFP was when we were playing in the Superdome winning a title and he was sitting at home in Lafayette watching it on TV.

So I guess the title in 2016 as the recruiting coordinator for Alabama doesn't count. Y'all are completely biased and misguided on Napier...and I'm one that thinks we ought to look at bigger names first.
