I thought it was a good hire with his former success and comfort with recruiting the area.

I was wrong. I still think he's a good man, but needs to enjoy the benefits of his hard work and retire.

He wasn't even a thought on mine. I told O not to touch him. But that shows how much O listens to me. He didn't just hire him, he made him one of the top paid assistant coaches in college. When we have lunch I make fun of him for the hire all the time.

You’d think they would have had a guy lined up for dc. By most accounts, they knew that Pelini was out for at least a month before the season ended. This is very Auburn-ish.

There was a lot of support for Pelini on this board and in the program, Captain Hindsight.

And there was a lot of consternation and head scratching as well.

We had just capped off the most accomplished season in CFB history and Ed (deserves the credit for it) could hire whom he wished.

But those paying attention in '06 and '07 saw Pelini whiff on the handful of teams running wildcats, zone reads, and spread concepts that every offense runs now.

The hiring/firing Pelini episode is the single worst HC decision regarding coordinators in our history. Worse than Tepper or Malleveto

TD applauded the hire and couldn't wait to get rid of Aranda.

That was just the LSU student workers who get paid to post on TD to boost morale in the program and try to convince the public the narrative they wanted out.

Came out of left field. Would not have hired then. Canada yes, I do own that one.

Hiring him and then paying him what they did was unbelievably stupid especially when you’re bidding against literally nobody

We were absolutely bidding against someone...ourselves.

He wasn’t...I wish the same as last time. Young hungry cat that eats and sleeps scheme like Aranda did.
