It is easily top 3, but that doesn't mean every coach will leave a good situation to take it. Their list is full of guys that are in a good program with things going well. I am sure they will get a good coach, but some of the list is laughable.

With the crap the coaches have to put up with regarding media commitments, LHN, etc. I'm wondering how many in the actual coaching profession consider it a "top 5" job.
In terms of salary, resources, and recruiting base it absolutely is.

Actually not a bad job. With all the money, facilities, recruiting advantages, and their own network they have a system set up where a coach coach can come in and win 2 conference championships over a 16 year period. Can anyone imagine Saban or Les Miles winning only 2 SEC championships over a 16 year period? They never would have seen 16 years at Bama or LSU.
Mack has banked a bunch of money while Texass has been a dstant second to OU in the Big 12 despite a ton of top 5 recruiting classes over the years. That is the truth.
From a coaches perspective... as a job.. it is actually quite good. Just win 9 or 10 games most years in a conference with only 1 or 2 teams close to you in terms of talent and you can stick around and bank money forever. You can mix in some RRR blowouts by OU, get embarrassed by Baylor, OSU, at home but win 9 or 10 most of the time and you are golden. Can have a few 7 or 8 win seasons but they can't be back to back to back or the shite hits the fan. That was Mack's downfall.
They just renegotiated his contract in 2012 and he got a raise despite them not doing shite in 2010 or 2011. So yes, purely from a head coaches standpoint it is a top 5 job.

Depends. Bama is like the backwoods Texas. No offense, but Texas is closer to USC, well-rounded, cosmopolitan (in a Texas way). So they're comparable, but being a star in Austin would certainly trump being a star in Tuscaloosa.
FSU is not an appealing job to me, but I'm probably biased. I think it is a stagnant institution in a terrible town, but I do recognize winning there shouldn't be too hard.
Notre Dame and OSU are great jobs for history and posterity, but it's going to be harder to get kids to those schools long term. ND is not that competitive with the other elites, but their lack of affiliation allows them to continue that appearance. OSU still fields good teams, but the long term outlook of Ohio and the Big 10 is bleak. See Nebraska.
LSU is sort of like Alabama, with less prestige. Excellent place to win, but if you're an egomaniac, you're never going to get the acclaim you could get in more prominent schools in more prominent states. Georgia is well rounded, kind of like Texas-light.

Great recruiting base. #1 in-state school. Run the conference. More money than pretty much every other school. Great academics. Nice city. Even more money. Their own tv network. Traditional power school.
If not the best job, in the top 3 easily.

Florida- It has to be a better job if Muschamp was able to stick around after this year, especially given the recruiting grounds.
Auburn- They let Chiz stick around for a while, and their fanbase isn't as unrealistic as to expect a national championship every year.
Ohio State- The entire country is their recruiting ground, once again semi-grounded fanbase (that didn't completely melt after this past weekend)
Notre Dame- Almost the same situation as OSU.
LSU- Miles has been put through hell by some of the fans, but the job always provides ample recruiting possibilities.

You're saying it is relative and it is. Of course, I think a handful of those jobs would be better than the remainder on 80% of peoples' lists, with Texas being at or near the top on most.

I would consider Miami a better job as well. Miami has the tradition, location, and resources to be a good program. They also have a pretty well-rounded athletic department.

I would argue it was. After the sanctions and with probation winding down Alabama was in a perfect spot to rekindle the magic of its rich history.
