I find it more likely that he's looking at that roster and that young QB and thinking, "I can do things there that Charlie isn't/can't". Coaches are a great fraternity, but they also believe in their own coaching ability over other's. He isn't likely worried about a "short rope" for him b/c he doesn't think he's going to stink up the joint like Strong has.

As for the "tremendous patience" LSU had with Miles, same could be said for Texas with Brown. Mack's last 4 years in Austin were 5-7, 8-5, 9-4, 8-5. Miles' last 4 years in BR were 10-3, 10-3, 8-5, 9-3. And he was fired for that.

Strong has gone 6-7, 5-7, and 3-3 so far in Austin. I would say Miles warranted more patience than Strong given the production of each.

NOT saying Strong should have same expectations, but he should be expected to have Texas competing for the weak Big12 title by now for sure.

this was how he did his last three years. this is the reason he was fired. and for refusing to modernize his offense when he assured the AD he would. but i understand bama and other SEC fans defending him. i would too if i was an opposing fan.

One was in the Big 12 and one in the SEC.

Also, the lack of institutional control at Texas forced Charlie to basically scorched earth that roster.

I think he is gone regardless of record at this point. Its not just W/L for Strong, its the extra bullshite that comes with being the HC at UT - all the alumni extra curriculars. Strong hates that stuff and its soured a lot of their big donors on him because of it.

If he goes 8-4 and 6-3 in conference they should keep him. That is a trend in the positive direction and shows the improving recruiting are finally helping.

His first recruiting class was entirely his are true sophomores.

I am trolling FYI. He should be canned if doesn't go 9-3.

But I'm going to keep telling people Texas is racist and not giving him a fair shot.

4 losses seems to be the theme, but I could see him getting 5 losses and staying if he doesn't have any bad games.

He needs to either run the table or can lose one but has to beat TCU in spectacular fashion in that last game

I posted this info a while ago and pretty detailed so I will just give the cliff notes. A very close friend is a huge booster at UT he laid out a plan on how Strong keeps his job but he flat out said if UT loses to Oklahoma he is done. Spoke with him after the game and he said nothing has changed he will not be coaching in Austin next year. When it comes to UT football information he has never been wrong with me. He stated they really want Herman bad and don't want to lose him to LSU.
