I think he is done regardless of what he does.

You don't think he can get the defense turned around if he's running it? What if Herman comes in and doesn't produce in three years?

Wasn't Mack playing for the big 12 championship his last season?

Mack Brown beat Oklahoma, then lost to Baylor in the last game of the season in an ice storm in Waco, they went 8-5 and lost to Oregon in the Alamo Bowl, and that was it.

Mack Brown made sure to mess up the Nick Saban hiring, though. Demanded more money in the buyout (and got it). Remember that Saban announced he was signing his contract extension at Alabama within moments of Mack Brown walking out into the football banquet as head coach (all of this was on television) amid big-time rumors.

Well it was not a bad last season for Mack.

Certainly, it could have been a good season, if they'd beaten Baylor and won the conference title. But they didn't. The Mack Brown firing was a bloodbath in Austin. UT INC. is a machine that must be fed.

Honest question from someone who doesn't follow Texas. Did he really have to overhaul the roster or was that just an excuse that never stopped getting thrown around?

They weren't great, but it's not like Strong inherited what Saban inherited at Bama

You're right,strong inherited a worse roster,with less depth.

Texas has been rumbling to fire strong since half way through last season. Hell, red McCombs was trashing Charlie strong before he even stepped foot on campus.

Classy folks at Texas. I'm sure Herman would feel just LOVED.

No,it's not. It's the reason UT sucks. College football is fine without Texas.
