... to survive?

6-6? He toast
7-5?
8-4? Likely safe
9-3? He's safe

Currently sitting at 3-3.

10/22 @ Kansas State 11:00 AM
10/29 vs Baylor 2:30 PM
11/5 @ Texas Tech TBD
11/12 vs West Virginia TBD
11/19 @ Kansas TBD
11/25 vs TCU 2:30 PM

Texas could be favored in all but WVU game.

Edited: looks like Texas is considered an underdog at KSU.

Think he needs a minimum of 8-4. If he goes 9-3 I think they probably keep him. 8-4 is probably let him go if they have Herman locked up.

If Herman isn't available they likely keep him at 8-4 or even 7-5.

Was Strong always considered a "rebuilder" to the UT admins?

Did they know he'd come in and clean house and be a disciplinarian and get the program sturdy from an institutional control standpoint and then fire him for someone else?

He did that incredibly well after Mack left it like the Wild West in Austin.

Texas would get absolutely roasted nationally if Strong finishes 8-4, a 3-game improvement from year 2 to 3, and they fire him. Herman has already said publicly that he thinks Strong is getting a raw deal.

If they fire him, its clearly racially motivated. #KeepStrong

Honestly I dont think it matters if they see LSU starting to make a deal with Herman.

They will get jealous as their fan base is convinced he is their savior, his dream job is UT, and he really wants to be there. They will fire Strong and try to outbid LSU for Herman.

Thankfully we won't have to worry about that. This team will struggle to get to bowl eligibility.

Link?

There are lots of rumors that the Texas administration maybe more interested in Chip Kelly than Herman. Either one is a win-win.

Chip is the opposite of what they want.... Supposedly he hates having to talk to boosters.

First of all, no he hasn't.
Second of all, he wants that job and, unless Texas screws it up (which is entirely possible, we are talking about Texas here) then he will have it.
Third, even if he had said something publicly about Strong (which he hasn't) do you really think that matters? I remember this statement from Saban in 2006 shortly after Shula was fired:
quote:

"Mike Shula is a good guy. He's a friend," Saban said. "I think he has done a good job there and should have been given an opportunity to stay there."

Link b/c that's what we do when we claim something has been said in public

Didn't stop Saban from taking the job about 5 weeks later b/c he wanted back in college and he knew he could crush it at Bama. Won't stop Herman from taking the Texas job in about 6 weeks b/c its the job he wants and he knows he can crush the Big 12.

Yeah, but Saban's a slime ball that has publicly lied more than once.

You're right, I checked and it was allegedly said privately, and I'm sure it is posturing by Herman's camp.

But, I find it highly likely to be true that Herman, looking at the short rope given to Strong, and compared to the tremendous patience LSU had shown Miles, is considering it in his decision making.

If either Strong or Ogeron finish well, it's a moot point. Otherwise, let the bidding begin.

Looks like both camps are also privately posturing with a "He wasn't our top pick anyway" angle. Fisher with LSU, Kelly with Texas.

Ole' Charlie has received plenty of cash from us to produce subpar records. Thanks for the past recruiting class and last year's win over Oklahoma.

He needs one more year. He has had some good recruiting classes. He probably won't survive though.

8-4 he stays

I actually think he's going to stay. Big 12 is garbage. I think they beat Baylor

Why? So we can win 5 or 6 games again? Really, what is one more year going to really do to turn the program?

Even if given another year, the team, at best would be 8 win. That's just not going to cut it.

texas should be STRONG next year.

i agree with bruce feldman that if charlie gets through this year he could be at UT for a long time.

8-4 at minimum, and even then they might pull the trigger though.
