Interestingly enough, I’m going to say O is just understanding that there was a method to Miles’ madness.
People can talk about rebuilding the offense, but the bottom line is Miles’ scheme won a shite ton of games. It isn’t all that dissimilar from the pro style attacks of Alabama or even the USC dynasty offense O dreams about.
The difference is those schools have solid quarterbacks to run the full system and LSU for any number of reasons just hasn’t for years.
O talked about points and blah blah blah to sell the fanbase, but all he cares about is winning to keep his gravy train running. And the best way to do that is follow right along the path Miles carved out for him.
All the fanfare about the record setting performances last year with Ensminger, that was Miles’ offense. Period. Add a bit of a fresh approach to play calling, and several historically bad run defenses, and voila, the offense is renovated, right?
O is building up the lines to run the football. That is clearly obvious. With Aranda and a really damn good defense coming back, he knows his best shot against a tough schedule is to keep games slow and close.
And you know what? He’s not wrong. It makes us firing Miles for this con man even more absurd, but I honestly think he is making the right call.
You want to be breaking in a Briles or Yurcich offense with no proven players at QB or WR against Miami, Auburn, UGA, and at UF before we even get to Bama??
Get real.
O is a complete joke and it is an embarrassment that he is LSU’s coach. But this is actually by far his best play here, and I think he rides the Miles/Ensminger train to another 9-3 year.

This will not.
Hope you're right.
But never underestimate how bad things can get with incompetent and egocentric leadership. Many storied programs have learned this the hard way.

Miles transformed into what he was at the end of his tenure.
Before he was ultra-conservative, he was the Riverboat Gambler. Had he been conservative from the very beginning, he would've been fired long before he was.

Remember 2011? Besides the national championship?
yea, and our offense was not that good then either. the defense, and esp the special teams, made that team. oh, and the fact bama couldn't kick field goals.

Besides the last 4-5 years he was at LSU, sure. He never won games from his offense though.

Proven false time and time again. You get a good system, you'll see good QB play. Based on your logic LSU hasn't had a good QB in almost 10 years and I find it hard to believe considering they've got decent enough QB talent from the HS ranks.

Again, miles was FIRED for his coaching abilities. Following miles is what is going to get him fired.

8 losses in a row against Bama playing this way. 8 in a fricking row. Most of those games weren't even close.
You're entire post is terrible.

They are not BOZOS. They are accomplished coaches, well respected in the community. That does not mean they will make the grade as OC at LSU, but it certainly does mean they are not BOZOS.
Steve might not be. But O is 100% bozo (from a coaching perspective)...sorry not sorry

LSU and Alabama used to run a similar, run heavy pro style offense. Difference is, even Saban saw the game changing and opted to roll with an offense that he previously said he hated. LSU stuck with the same antiquated system and it cost the coach his job.

Ensminger and Sullivan are NOT bad hires!!! They would just be underwhelming for a fan base that want the hot shot.
They are bad hires. They might not be bad coaches. But, one isn't qualified to be a coordinator, and the other is past his prime which brings other issues in play.
It's impossible for me to believe that Orgeron, who is viewed pretty negatively by a significant portion of the fan base, could be so tone deaf as to think this is the final bullet he wants to fire.
It would be easier for me to believe that something else that we aren't aware of is driving this.
This is so blatantly counter to what the rational, logical, consensus opinion is on what this program needs, that I just don't believe it's going to happen...even though everyone says it is.
I honestly think there is a chance that if Orgeron pitches this as what he wants to do, that they fire him right there. Not only do I think it's a move that will ultimately be his end, I also think that any competent administration would simply disagree with it so much, that they are forced to re-evaluate him as the head man.

This would be a safe hire for O. O cannot afford fo whiff twice. This hire would not be a whiff. It would basically ensure O did not decline further. If a young gun comes in and whiffs, everyone is gone!
Safe hire that performs similar to this year gets Orgeron fired.

9 wins doesn't get him fired. 9 wins would mean the team improved significantly over this past year.

Actually I bet they announce it Monday during the Championship game. frick LSU.

Yea, good luck attracting any of those solid quarterbacks to come play for a coach who last played in the disco era.

So if it is SE, what is the delay? He does not need vetting, he's already in his office working. Why the wait then?
