The reason I ask this question is because I have a bet with client that LSU wins out in the regular season.. I also dont think CEO should get the head job either.. I find myself wondering if LSU makes it to the playoff, you cant exactly introduce a new coach while your in the middle of playing for it all.. Would you wait till after? Have a deal in play and give 3 weeks to the new coach to recruit and make staff changes.. thats a lot of work to be done in a short amount of time.. Just curious as to how you would handle it.. And no coach O doesnt get the job.. He inherited a top 5 team, the expectations were already high and I believe he is good at what he is doing right now.. Motivating the guys and giving a fresh start. but I strongly feel that he is not the long term answer.

ah, so we're going to win out, beat No. 1 team in country, make playoffs and compete for a title but this guy still wouldn't be good enough...

If LSU makes the playoffs with how bad the team was playing while Miles was coach then naming another coach besides O will be met with much disdain from a majority of the fan base. The only coaches that would be able to hold off the pitchforks is Herman, Jimbo, and maybe Chip Kelly.

It is an emotional hire.. not a logical one.. he was given the keys to a ferrari... one of the most loaded teams in the country, and he was the right man to bring in new energy and life. but he is not the long term solution.

You have no idea wether that's true or not just like no idea which outside hire would be the best one. Would be best to just stop saying shite like this and let the season play out

and if your scenario were to play out, however unlikely it is, he will have done everything right.

emotion and energy only takes you so far. They would have done an excellent job. Not sure about "long term solution" but I don't see that there is ANY way he wouldn't get the job. Plus, what would LSU be telling the entire coaching community when they won't hire the guy that has brought the team back from a 2-2 record to make the playoffs?? If I was a coach, I wouldn't want any part of those unrealistic expectations. That is worse than Texas...

I don't disagree with you, but he WILL be coach if LSU makes it to the playoffs and wins. You have a choice hope you win your bet, or hope we get jimbo, herman, kelly, etc. You won't get both. I promise you that.

What part of LSU vs Auburn screams Ferrari?

The way time was disappearing is a given.

If LSU is in the playoff Oeaux would be in demand by some schools but not by LSU because the hiring process of a tier 1 coach should be finished well before the playoff begins.

Yep. Although I think it would be bad in the long run. The local and national media would go ballistic if O didn't get the job on that scenarios.

I'm also not so sure a 2 loss sec team gets in the playoff...TBH
A one loss big 10 or acc school most like goes. Heck, they both have two valid scenarios right now, with Louisville and Ohio st being ranked in the top 6

I don't think it would be good long term either. Like you said, ADs hand would be forced if he was able to somehow pull it off.

I beg to differ...

clearly you are no where near AD material, you would want to be prepared for anything.. It is not out of the realm from happening.. not when you have a team as talented as LSU... Beat Bama and you are looking at the hottest team in America..

there was your key phrase, what it does is legitimizes the firing of Miles, not the promoting of Orgeron..

precisely why CEO should not be the head coach and the precise reason he has been turned away from every head job he has applied for.
